Historia
As dusk approaches a small Dublin suburb in the summer of 1984, mothers begin to call their children home. But on this warm evening, three children do not return from the dark and silent woods. When the police arrive, they find only one of the children gripping a tree trunk in terror, wearing blood-filled sneakers, and unable to recall a single detail of the previous hours. Twenty years later, the found boy, Rob Ryan, is a detective on the Dublin Murder Squad and keeps his past a secret.

Depressing
Revisado: 01-29-23
Tana French loves to write. Her prose is rich, complex and multilayered. She would be a wonderful poet. Her characters in this book are totally messed up and actually not quite believable. The main character and narrator is completely unsympathetic and just down right creepy. A book is no fun to read if there is no one to root for.

Historia
A U.S. marshal and her prisoner are gunned down outside London's Heathrow Airport just as the prisoner is to testify against the head of a violent animal-rights group. Leeds Detective Sergeant Keen Dunliffe doesn't seem like the right man for the case, except that he has the undercover experience and knowledge of Yorkshire, the terrorists' backyard. He's ordered to head up a sting operation with Rachel Colver, an inexperienced police constable.

Kingdom of Silence
Revisado: 02-28-09
I must admit I did not listen to this book all the way through, I couldn't. The first part was a difficult listen, too much animal and people suffering. But my real problem with this book was the premise about animal rights activists being murderous thugs. It just seemed so preposterous. If the basic story line doesn't ring true, no point in continuing.
