A downgrade from the previous installme
Revisado: 03-25-23
Decent continuation but still a significant downgrade.
i will highlight some of my problems. minor spoilers ahead.
There are moments of brilliance but the overall story this time was too chaotic and sometimes just plain uninteresting.
The character motivations were very unrelatable. often talking about the morality of things in a way that doesn't resonate very well. i mean Damion is playing the villain class and it's supposed to be a game, yet he has to morally justify every kill he makes?
the villains Richard and Arkumand are underdeveloped and we know nothing of their motivation. makes their squabble very boring. it feels like there is no real goal. virtually no progression in any personal relationships for Damion except maybe for his mom. A lot of potential left on the table with Damion's "fans".
And most annoyingly, despite all the new powers everyone treats Damion as weak and a nuisance. everyone looks down on him pretty much even though he's supposed to be the strongest player in the game.
the world is not sufficiently development to be able to understand the conflict between kingdoms. no explanation of the map or balance of power was provided. the world feels very small. everyone somehow lives in the same city.
i feel like the author tried to combine too many subplots and as a result everything feels half done.
Though I'm critical, i think the situation is salvageable. if the next book picks up the pieces and introduces a single coherent storyline with good villains it can easily return to form. if the occultists become more badass again i may also start rooting for them once more. the things that happened after dark tower (omited for spoiler) have potential if there was actually a common goal to work towards.

What a great end to a story arc
Revisado: 12-21-22
This feels like a great satisfying end to the second major story arc in this story.
Absolutely looking forward to what comes next, and it is such a shame that the audiobook is falling so far behind the written releases. I hope they will pick up the pace in 2023.
My only critique is that the final chapter feels a bit rushed and unsatisfying. It feels like the author really just wanted to get this over with after writing an amazing 7th sequal to my favorite sci-fi fantasy book.
I love the space politics, scheming and balance of power in the universe and look forward to how humanity's role in the universe will expand.

Continuing on the same trend, brilliantly
Revisado: 08-24-22
This is just what I had been looking forward to. more battles, more scheming, more revelations and world building and most importantly, more Lark Markus.
the book concludes pretty well with no major cliff hanger but it leaves a wide opening for the story to continue. I look forward to it.
The narrator has also done a great job, feels like a step up. the only thing that bothered me was the frequency of the words "in an instant". it would be nice if the author tried to vary the battle descriptions a bit more. For example, immediately, as soon as the attack landed, at a frightening rate, etc.
excited for the next one let's keep this up

Uninteristing, pretentious, virtue signaling
Revisado: 06-02-22
MC who is weak, uninteresting, pretentious and constantly virtue signaling and claiming moral superiority. In a world with a built-in swearing filter.
The MC is surrounded by people who admire him for no real reason.
The whole story is about the MC trying to be virtuous and make the world a better place, which is so overdone. people in power bad, abusing the common folk, blah blah its just not interesting.
There are no actual villains, no personal motivation and honestly a boring world as well.
This is quite possibly the worst book I have listened to on Audible thus far.
Needless to say, I did not finish the book, but it is far beyond redemption even after just the first few chapters.

A Cultivation Novel Like No Other
Revisado: 12-11-21
This one was quite different from all the other ones. Over 30 hours, hugely interesting and unique despite the concept being pretty common. The characters in this book are good and the changes in perspective synergize well creating a single coherent story.

With his home finally secure, Lindon delves deep into the ancient labyrinth, seeking long-lost Soulsmithing knowledge and the secret to destroying the Dreadgods. Monarchs plot against him and against each other, unaware of the threats gathering in realms beyond. Far above Lindon and the Monarchs and the Dreadgods, another war is waged. Suriel and the Abidan clash against the Mad King and his forces in a battle for the fate of many worlds. And if it is lost, Cradle will be destroyed.

Superb. Hope it continues for long
Revisado: 11-25-21
The tenth installment of Cradle is probably the best one. It has everything that is to love about Cradle.
My biggest concern about this book as that it will be virtually impossible to surpass in the next one.
Finally, finally, Lindon gets some recognition for his abilities and progression. We get a throwback with some old characters.
The story gets more interesting with every chapter, and by the final part of the book i was completable unable to stop listening.
It is all here, character development, combat, progression, advancement and a lot of carefully distributed worldbuilding.
Yerin is still a bit frustrating at times, but much more pleasant than previous books.
This book was so good that I immediately want to reread the series. I hope that the next book will be out soon. Im excited.

Good story, questionable characters
Revisado: 11-23-21
great continuation of the story. can't comment too much on it without spoiling anything though. it ends on a cliffhanger
the character development of Frank and Riley is lacking though. Riley is irrational, hard to relate to and just not very interesting. I feel like the author may not be very skilled ar writing female characters. Frank got a bit of character development but deserves to be further explored. I hope that we will get more of Frank's perspective in the next book

Historia
When virtual reality becomes real enough that people feel as if they're being transported to another world, Valia Online arrives. A man running from his past joins the game to forget it all. Calling himself Jack Thorn, he chooses an undead race, Deathlord. A mage by choice, and a swordsman by necessity, he soon finds out that he'll need to use much more than magic and steel to survive; strategy, creativity, and carefully chosen words can often accomplish what simple attacks can't.

Best audio book I've heard to date
Revisado: 11-30-18
i got this book because of the length (18h) and positive reviews, so i went in without expectations.
what I got, was the best audio book I've heard to date. this story is full of tense moments, unpredictable reveals and changes of events, funny well timed jokes and a very unique setting
This story is quite dark when you learn more about the main character, but i found myself rooting for him all the way through, and i couldn't stop listening. The reveal near the end of the book shines a new light on the story and has me excited for the sequel
the narration is brilliant, this is one of my favorite performances of Jeff Hays, and that says something.
there is lots of variety in the voices and each voice matches it's character very well.
get this book, now. you probably won't regret it

Historia
For those who reside in the outer regions of Aleria, the day of bestowal is what determines their destiny. It is the holy day of the Goddess. The day that allows those of age to step forward and receive their blessing, to embark on the path that she has chosen for them. To receive their Classification, which dictates their strength and ability. For those people, the holy day of bestowal represents fate itself. For Dante, it represents salvation.

A unique and vibrant story
Revisado: 09-26-18
i picked up this book in a shopping spree, and it sat on my backlog for a while, hence i pretty much went in blank. I am more than impressed with the entertainment this story delivered, it was hardly possible to take a break from going into the next chapter. this story has strong litrpg aspects, as i had expected, but the story takes place in a fantasy world, where deaths are real and stakes are high. the characters are not from another world which makes everything feel so much more natural, all the interactions feel authentic and meaningful. i was super impressed with the quality of the character designs, it made the environment feel alive and vibrant, all the characters have distinct personalities and i found myself feeling excited no matter who the mc was interacting with. i have fallen in love with the world, it's noble drama and the characters that constantly surprise me. I cannot wait for the next book, and i hope the author will continue to make the story feel so magical.
finally, i want to point out that the narrator did a phenomenal job. the mc's voice is pleasant and the other characters have a voice that matches their characters. i am especially impressed with the female voices.
