Totally enjoyable!
Revisado: 01-18-18
This was a refreshing journey with a rewarding end. Most interesting is the author's ability to convey honest emotions from both the male and female perspective. Any book that evokes real tears is a treasure as this one surprisingly does. You almost have a feeling that you've just spent a few days in Roma through Mr. Lamprell's vivid and detailed descriptions. What a thrill! I certainly look forward to reading/listening to more from this author. Grazie mille!

Unique and enthralling
Revisado: 06-11-17
This book provided a very special experience by presenting the story from 3 totally different perspectives. It really provided a heart-wrenching journey made so much more poignant by the fact that 2 characters were not fictional and the experiences of the main character were based on the actual experiences of a Polish victim of the Holocaust horrors. When I finished, I hoped it would be considered as a screenplay. I was happily surprised to find a movie has already been filmed and will soon be released. I think we all should share this book. I have a much better understanding of the widespread ignorance of many of us Americans of the reality of the evil that was happening in Europe. The narration could not have been more superb. Each narrator truly captured the essence of their character and allowed us to have empathy for each. Bravo, Ms Kelly! Merci beaucoup!

Should be required reading for all Millenials!
Revisado: 05-21-17
This is a wake-up call. Egged dares to point out the direction social media is taking our young generation. I especially liked how he used young contemporary characters to point out their vulnerability and gullibility without preaching. The story is fast-moving and was a thrill ride with an unanticipated ending. I look forward to.more by Eggers and hope his perspectives are taken seriously.
Graham was a great narrator and captured the varied characters with just the right attitude, quite a feat since so many were female. I thoroughly enjoyed this "listen" this weekend.

As raiders and explorers, the Vikings played a decisive role in the formation of Latin Christendom, and particularly of western Europe. Now, in a series of 36 vivid lectures by an honored teacher and classical scholar, you have the opportunity to understand this remarkable race as never before, studying the Vikings not only as warriors, but in all of the other roles in which they were equally extraordinary - merchants, artists, kings, raiders, seafarers, shipbuilders, and creators of a remarkable literature of myths and sagas.

Fascinating!
Revisado: 11-27-16
What made the experience of listening to The Vikings the most enjoyable?
My husband is Danish. He is fascinated by so many aspects of his ancestry of which he was unaware, aspects he misunderstood and aspects he believed to be different. This is a thorough telling of how the Viking's exploration affected so many cultures as well as an insightful perspective on Danish cultural development.
It a presented as lecture form and therefore not narrated; the listener is in class.
Had this course been offered at my university with Prof. Harl, I'm sure there would be a waitlist to register.
This is one listen you rewind several times to connect past events to the current. Highly recommend
Also is a good accompaniment to the History Channel's series, The Vikings. They compliment each other well as the book shows that the series is based on more fact than fantasy, which makes the history most astounding!

Historia
Being on the murder squad is nothing like Detective Antoinette Conway dreamed it would be. Her partner, Stephen Moran, is the only person who seems glad she's there. The rest of her working life is a stream of thankless cases, vicious pranks, and harassment. Antoinette is savagely tough, but she's getting close to the breaking point. Their new case looks like yet another by-the-numbers lovers' quarrel gone bad. Aislinn Murray is blond, pretty, groomed to a shine, and dead in her catalogue-perfect living room, next to a table set for a romantic dinner.

Would you try another book from Tana French and/or Hilda Fay?
Probably
Would you recommend The Trespasser to your friends? Why or why not?
Not decided. The best part of the book was the insight into Irish culture.
Any additional comments?
The thick Irish brogue took some getting used-to at the start but became a charming aspect once accustomed. The setup was long. I kept waiting for something to happen. Then suddenly, the heroine has an epiphany whereby she figures everything out. Seemed disconnected and a bit contrived. Good plot but could have been worked in more intricate patterns utilizing the sub-plots that were introduced but not explored. Overall, I enjoyed the experience. I expected more after the rich set-up. Narrator was perfect for this story.

We expect our judges to be honest and wise. Their integrity and impartiality are the bedrock of the entire judicial system. We trust them to ensure fair trials, to protect the rights of all litigants, to punish those who do wrong, and to oversee the orderly and efficient flow of justice. But what happens when a judge bends the law or takes a bribe? It’s rare, but it happens. Lacy Stoltz is an investigator for the Florida Board on Judicial Conduct. She is a lawyer, not a cop, and it is her job to respond to complaints dealing with judicial misconduct.

Really Grisham?
Revisado: 11-02-16
I was truly looking forward to the release of another Grisham thriller. The Whistler is so far from Grisham's style, I often wondered if it was even written by a man. It seemed mostly from a feminine perspective. Totally lacked Grishams telltale cadence. Deja vu after Grey Mountain. Grisham is pure genius and has been a true artist for many years. I have read and reread all of his works as well as enjoyed them through Audible. I remain a loyal fan and will eagerly await his next masterpiece. Fair enough?

I found an envelope in the mail. No return address. My name on the front, my address. Inside was a check, made out to me, in the amount of 10 thousand dollars. Enough to pay the bills and leave me some left over to live on until I found a job. Enough to let me focus on classes. There was no name on the check, just "VRI Inc.", and a post office box address for somewhere in the city. No hint of identity or reason for the check or anything. No mention of repayment, interest, nothing...except a single word, on the notes line: "You." Just those three letters.

What didn’t you like about Summer Roberts and Tyler Donne ’s performance?
Summer Roberts was excellent in her female character. Tyler Donne has an amazing voice but his was only used for the male character in last chapter, probably for symbolism. This seems not as valuable as the effect of using Tyler's voice throughout would have been

Historia
If you've ever been curious about where the term "masochism" comes from, you will find it laden in the pages of Leopold von Sacher-Masoch's masterpiece, Venus in Furs, for whom the term was named. Drawn in part from his own life experiences, Sacher-Masoch's novel develops an eroticism unlike any other. The book's protagonist, Severin, is so infatuated and obsessed with the object of his desire, Wanda, that he asks to be her slave. Although hesitant at first, Wanda's treatment of Severin becomes more and more depraved, fueling Severin's own desires for cruelty.
