Super Gnarly Homie!
Revisado: 04-11-24
Each book has its own pros and cons. Character development is well done for the primary and secondary characters. Creating a great sense of relatability, the Human Condition and critical thought if you allow yourself to be completely immersed in the stories.
The pseudoscience and story weaving make it believable enough and the authors own hidden "Easter eggs" make it clear he's a fan of the fantasy genre with direct and overt references to Star Trek, and Star Wars Tech, The Witcher, Back to the Future and plenty of Juedo Christian, Greek and Indo-Asian philosophy. I might add he either has good understanding of philosophy, String Theory and Physics or his research was incredibly well done. It's based in whatvwe seemnto know, but raises several interesting philophical questions we as humanity have grappled with for seveal millenia but then is spun into intrigue and speculation to make a captivating and gripping story line.
Withoutngiving away to much itsnatbforst appears to have a few plot holes, but most of that gets rectified by use of the fact it's a Time Travel series and often gets "fixed" or explained in the following book(s).
Well worth my "time" and cerainly an enjoyment! Hoping his other work is as captivating👊

Dramatic story line. Plenty of plot holes that left me scratching my head through several of the 6 books. Fun read when you're looking to tune out of the 'real' world.

Crushed it!
Revisado: 02-28-22
This is very easy(ish) reading! I crushed this book in a day and a half. Quantum mechanics and String Theory are not my forte and my understanding is as pedestrian as possible. the author explains many portions through amazing visualization and uses of metaphor throughout the entire story.
Making for an entertaining plot, but also helping me to better understand the theory that's often way above my head.
By no means heady or difficult to read and understand. He expands upon some of several pros and some rather disturbing and downright "scary" cons.
Enjoyed the performance by the reader. Not the best I've listened to, but certainly above average and engaging.

Historia
The long-awaited sequel to Time and Again . Si Morley is back and the world may never be the same. When Time and Again was published in 1970, it immediately developed a loyal following that has grown with each passing year. With this book, Jack Finney returned to the same magical territory and finds Ruben Prien still at work with the Project, still dreaming of altering man's fate by going back in time to adjust events... to interfere, some might say, with destiny.

Read the Time and Again first!
Revisado: 02-25-22
Fair warning...I had just read Finney's first book "Time and Again". Intrigued I downloaded this book.
Had I not read the first story the book would have seemed to jump all over, without explanation. Having just read the book; written 25 years earlier, the flow and references made perfect sense. It assumes the reader has also read his first book as there are multiple references to "Time and Again" to explain people, actions, places, and portions of the main plot. I read some of the other reviews and understand some of the confusion voiced. If it's been a while since reading the first book I suggest reading it first and then immediately jumping to this title. It will; I promise, make much more sense.
Intriguing topic and material. Very descriptive, to the point of occasionally being overly descriptive of, snowfalls, and weather. Some dialogue seemed unexplained or left to the reader to conclude why the author felt the additions helped to embellish or explain character actions and feelings.
The performance by the audio reader was excellent. I'm always amazed at the skill of great storytellers, actors, and artists.

Historia
Transported from the mid-twentieth century to New York City in the year 1882, Si Morley walks the fashionable "Ladies' Mile" of Broadway, is enchanted by the jingling sleigh bells in Central Park, and solves a 20th-century mystery by discovering its 19th-century roots. Falling in love with a beautiful young woman, he ultimately finds himself forced to choose between his lives in the present and the past. A story that will remain in the listener's memory, Time and Again is a remarkable blending of the troubled present and a nostalgic past....

Good Story, bit of a stretch
Revisado: 02-22-22
Written during a time that was much less skeptical than the 2020s about another time that was even less skeptical than even the 1970s.
The story is compelling and it's apparent to me a basis for other time travel novels and movies. Stephen Kings 11.22.63 and even the Back to the Future trilogy borrowed ideas from the author. However, through the lens of 52 years later, I could not help but see an incredible amount of naivety and almost "Mom and Apple Pie" innocence often seen and experienced in mid-twentieth-century America. The amount of trust afforded the government and military seem hysterically given what we know of the actual time the book was written. I'm cynical as hell and maybe that's my fault so I also want to share my positive feelings.
The author does an amazing job of transporting the reader back to 1882 and did a vast amount of historical research to accomplish this. The story is spun and woven incredibly well. He certainly has some wonderful twists and surprises for the reader. I genuinely enjoyed the book and the performance given by the audiobook reader. It feels good if you remove my chronic cynicism and just enjoy as I was more often than not able to. Thus making it a very enjoyable few days and wanting to dive back in at my first moment of spare time.

Stupendous
Revisado: 02-13-22
As if all the intentional Easter Eggs written in the story were not good enough having Will Weaton read the story added another level uber dork that made me chuckle too.
Great story that raises questions about humanity and where we have been and were we could potentially go. It had a very Phillip K. Dick feel to it and was a great enjoyment to hear read aloud after having read it on analog several years ago😅

Historia
North America was settled by people with distinct religious, political, and ethnographic characteristics, creating regional cultures that have been at odds with one another ever since. Subsequent immigrants didn't confront or assimilate into an "American" or "Canadian" culture, but rather into one of the 11 distinct regional ones that spread over the continent each staking out mutually exclusive territory. In American Nations, Colin Woodard leads us on a journey through the history of our fractured continent....

The explanation and breakdown is superb. Only toward the very end do you begin to see the authors politcal leanings. Wether you agree with them or not it certainly opened my eyes to what I could never put word to.

Historia
In 1914, the war which was to have been wrapped up by Christmas had - in reality - only just begun, as all sides entrenched themselves deeper into the Great War. Christmas Eve, 1914 follows one company of British officers as they rotate forward to spend their Christmas on the front lines, a mere 80 yards from the German guns. Upper- and working-class men and boys are thrown together into one trench and struggle to survive.

So sad, yet inspires hope in our broken humanity. Historical accurate and sadly mirrors today too. Good quick read which is filled with emotions. Fear, Grandiosity, Bravery, Loss and Anger and finally a message of hope.
