Historia
When thousands of Somali refugees resettled in Lewiston, Maine, a struggling, overwhelmingly white town, longtime residents grew uneasy. Then the mayor wrote a letter asking Somalis to stop coming, which became a national story. While scandal threatened to subsume the town, its high school's soccer coach integrated Somali kids onto his team, and their passion began to heal old wounds.

An all around great listen that shows you the best of America.
Revisado: 03-21-18
To start with, this book opens up a culture to the listener and introduces to us what refugees faced when they came to the states. It dives into the hardships these families experienced not only in their native countries, but in their adopted country. It shines a much deserved light on the people in one community who helped unite a town with the game of soccer. My kids also loved listening to this. It’s a must listen and I highly recommend it.

Seriously one of the best books I've listened to her. I started it 3 days ago and since then I've cleaned out 3 rooms getting a jump start on an impending move. It's such a simple concept but the way Mel presents it is PERFECT for someone like me who gets stuck when big things loom. Love it!

A great place to start if you have a child recently diagnosed.

As a mom to a son who toes the line with ADHD, this book was a terrific way to streamline my handling of the diagnosis as a parent. I want to literally hug the author/narrator for "getting" my kid.

Historia
Eliza Harris, a slave whose child is to be sold, escapes her beloved home on the Shelby plantation in Kentucky and heads North, eluding the hired slave catchers. Aided by the underground railroad, Quakers, and others opposed to the Fugitive Slave Act, Eliza, her son, and her husband George run toward Canada. As the Harrises flee to freedom, another slave, Uncle Tom, is sent "down the river" for sale. Too loyal to abuse his master's trust, too Christian to rebel, Tom wrenches himself from his family.

Amazing
Revisado: 04-10-15
I'm sure we were all required to read it when we were young and, well, stupid. If I can recall, I got the cliff notes. I'm 40 now and the desire to learn and understand the complexities of the institution of slavery just prior to the civil war from a literary standpoint was, in a word, strong. The narration did not disappoint and gave such life and understanding to the characters. I highly recommend this audio book!

Historia
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

Amazing
Revisado: 02-23-15
The narration was beyond compare and really kept you involved with the characters. You became emotionally invested in sad, alcoholic Rachel. Great story.
