Historia
A family of four murdered in their hotel room. A single mother and her boyfriend both stabbed to death. A sordid history of violent crimes, repeated over and over - but decades apart. Olivia Barker is a therapist with no connection to the murders. But she has heard things. Stories that keep her up at night. Details that only a killer would know. A killer who could be one of her patients…Olivia has no proof for her suspicions. But as the body count rises, so do her fears. A rock is thrown through her window, her car tires are slashed, a chilling message is scrawled on her bathroom mirror.

Great story- I’m a huge true crime and mystery thriller fiction fan. Love Stephen King and Nevada Barr and too many others to mention and I enjoyed this story. Narration was fine, good length, pretty good pace as in it didn’t take too long to get exciting, and it was entertaining.

Tanaka Institute, Monterey, CA: Angel, the recaptured 76-foot, 100,000-pound Megalodon, has birthed a litter of pups - five females - far too numerous and aggressive to keep in one pen. One solution: a Dubai royal prince is building the largest aquarium in the world and seeks to purchase two of the "runts". The deal hinges on hiring Jonas Taylor's 21-year-old son, David, to be their trainer. Jonas reluctantly agrees, and David is off to Dubai for the summer of his life.

When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Great! Apocalypse survival book, PG rated
Revisado: 08-23-22
I love apocalypse books, be they virus or zombie or EMP- and this one is a good story, well narrated.
Ok so here’s the deal:
Not Really a Spoiler alert- there is less gore and ugly mankind behavior described in this book than I have found in others of its ilk. Usually a roving band of raping murdering slave keeping cannibal bad guys is encountered and then damages the good guys in various ways to varying degrees. If graphic sex, lots of violence, rape, and fight scenes, explicit drug use, and etc are NOT FOUND IN THIS BOOK. Definitely can listen to with kids/younger audiences and not worry about a cover their ears part.
If you like hearing how people survive- what supplies they choose, decisions they make, how they find food water fire power - if you’re a prepper or if you love a great clean cut fiction adventure- THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU!
If you like more adult more graphic themes and exploring the darker side of human nature and criminal tendencies, this may be a bit vanilla for you. It’s possible some ppl would also find it to be a tad right wing leaning, with at times sexist gender roles/stereotypes. I’m liberal politically, and found it was subtle and didn’t really bother me.
Good book. Good story. Good length- and narrated well.

Historia
Growing up on Cape Cod in the 1960s, Liza Rodman was a lonely little girl. During the summers, while her mother worked days in a local motel and danced most nights in the Provincetown bars, her babysitter - the kind, handsome handyman at the motel where her mother worked - took her and her sister on adventures in his truck. He bought them popsicles and together, they visited his “secret garden” in the Truro woods. To Liza, he was one of the few kind, understanding, and safe adults in her life.

Definitely worth the credit- well researched, factual, and bothered to care enough about the victims to find out the truth of their lives- instead of assigning them into the same tiresome tropes of “did drugs drank alcohol was promiscuous troubled run away” or “good girl”.

Story and Narration Excellent
Revisado: 05-12-21
Straight up: I love GOOD zombie apocalypse stories, and listen to a lot of audiobooks, so I feel quasi-qualified to say this is one of the best.
The whole Mountain Man series has been fantastic and drawn me in from the first book. Its clever, suspenseful, funny, imaginative, and both reverent and irreverent at the appropriate places.
The action and monsters do not disappoint, and I recognize the cast of characters as real people I would know or meet and root for (or against).
I have listened to some of this author’s other works but it hasn’t quite hooked me like his epic apocalypse tale and unlikely but perfect hero Gus.
I feel the Narrator needs no explanation other than: its the one and only RC Bray. The man could narrate a cereal box and make you like it. With Mr Bray delivering this Zombie goodness ....get ready to binge listen. The whole series.
