Revisado: 11-21-22
my god was it a good book whether you read it for fun or as a way to gain insight into something more it is a fun book. it takes a moment to get used to the names but the narrator does his best to give a unique voice to each character. 10/10 recommend.

Historia
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

Interesting story / good narration

very interesting story, slow in the beginning with very satisfying build up, a cool perspective too. Will Patton knocks it out of the park as always if you like this book check out others he's read, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Matthew McConaughey's greatest work yet
Revisado: 07-13-21
The raw honesty and candor that he brings to the book, his openness in willing to acknowledge his mistakes and triumphs, never being too proud. The willingness to let us in on his family, friends, loves, and passions I believe makes this one of his greatest works and an excellent read/listen.

Historia
Teenage girls are taking courses of testosterone and disfiguring their bodies. Parents are undermined; experts are over-relied upon; dissenters in science and medicine are intimidated; free speech truckles under renewed attack; socialized medicine bears hidden consequences; and an intersectional era has arisen in which the desire to escape a dominant identity encourages individuals to take cover in victim groups. Every person who has ever had a skeptical thought about the sudden rush toward a non-binary future but been afraid to express it - this book is for you.

very informative
Revisado: 08-03-20
I found this book very informative and being interested in the lgbtq + Community I think that detransition stories are not old enough. this book perfectly encapsulates what is going on in these movements and why we need to have a more open discussion about transitioning children and getting people who are not trans the mental help that they need.

Historia
On September 9, 1971, nearly 1,300 prisoners took over the Attica Correctional Facility in upstate New York to protest years of mistreatment. Holding guards and civilian employees hostage, the prisoners negotiated with officials for improved conditions during the four long days and nights that followed. On September 13, the state abruptly sent hundreds of heavily armed troopers and correction officers to retake the prison by force. Their gunfire killed 39 men - hostages as well as prisoners.

an ok book
Revisado: 07-15-20
if your looking for what i would say is a relatively accurate account of the Attica prison riot and its legacy this is the book, but i find the streching of racial bigotry found in midcentury America to todays prison system and the reforms still needed to be just that a stretch. i still highly recommend this book though to any body who is interested in history or the injustices that have historically happened in our country.

Historia
In The Righteous Mind, social psychologist Jonathan Haidt explores the origins of our divisions and points the way forward to mutual understanding. His starting point is moral intuition - the nearly instantaneous perceptions we all have about other people and the things they do. These intuitions feel like self-evident truths, making us righteously certain that those who see things differently are wrong. Haidt shows us how these intuitions differ across cultures, including the cultures of the political left and right.

Historia
Authored with uninhibited candor and manic energy, this audiobook is Acosta's own account of coming of age as a Chicano in the psychedelic '60s, of taking on impossible cases while breaking all tile rules of courtroom conduct, and of scrambling headlong in search of a personal and cultural identity. It is a landmark of contemporary Hispanic American literature, at once ribald, surreal, and unmistakably authentic.
