disappointed
Revisado: 02-05-23
the storyline is a great storyline but the repetitiveness of the same information got to be annoying. and the narrator was more monotone than anything else. I made it partway through chapter 4 and then abandoned it. it's a shame because it seems like the storyline is a good one

Historia
One of our best-loved actors, Michael Caine has starred in over 100 films in his six-decade career, spanning classic movies like Alfie, Zulu, and The Italian Job (the inspiration for the book title) to playing Alfred opposite Christian Bale's Batman in Christopher Nolan's blockbuster Dark Knight trilogy. Caine has excelled in every kind of role - with a skill that's made it look easy. As he says, "Small parts can lead to big things. And if you keep doing things right, the stars will align when you least expect it."

Spectacular "rags" to "riches" biography
Revisado: 11-05-22
I was truly enthralled from the first chapters after listening to Mr. Caine's less than humble beginnings. His struggles, his successes, his perseverance are inspiring. His commitment to his second family and reconnection to his first portray a man of humility and wisdom.
Thank you, Mr. Caine, for sharing.

This explosive new audiobook challenges many of the long-held assumptions about blacks, about Jews, about Germans and Nazis, about slavery, and about education. Plainly written, powerfully reasoned, and backed with a startling array of documented facts, Black Rednecks and White Liberals takes on the trendy intellectuals of our times as well as historic interpreters of American life.

Historia
This wasn’t the plan. Judge Herman Calvert, 88, never thought he’d outlive his beloved wife, Marie. Yet now he finds himself alone, a grieving widower, desperate for escape from the home they built together, where every turn brings a painful reminder of his late wife. So the judge retreats to his lake cabin in rural Wisconsin, a place where an old man can find peace and solitude. A place where nature can take its course. But something new has moved in.

Historia
Black Americans have long been shackled to the Democrats. Seeing no viable alternative, they have watched liberal politicians take the Black vote for granted without pledging anything in return. In Blackout, Owens argues that this automatic allegiance is both illogical and unearned. She contends that the Democrat Party has a long history of racism and exposes the ideals that hinder the Black community’s ability to rise above poverty, live independent and successful lives, and be an active part of the American dream.

Revisado: 11-23-20
A must read for ALL who are truly invested into understanding the history of Blacks in America. The historical data, quotes from black american leaders throughout history, and modern day government programs that are holding black americans back are all artfully woven into Ms. Owens' book. A slow reader myself, I could not put her book down. YOU WILL BE SO GRATEFUL YOU READ THIS BOOK! (I listened to the audio version that was narrated by Candice Owen herself. Her passion and honesty can be heard through her narration! )
