America's power grid has been unplugged by a natural disaster caused by the sun. What was supposed to be a phenomenal light show, a spectacle like no other, turned into chaos, mayhem, and death. Ordinary Americans found themselves separated from their families, facing the worst of mankind. They pulled together in an effort to survive. However, they now face new threats who threaten them.

A world subjugated by tyranny. A society unraveled. A nation in shambles. A population decimated. A future boundlessly uncertain. A community of families on the verge of extinction. The Russell family is finally reunited and the citizens of Trout Run Valley are blessed with a period of repose, but the interlude does not last. Measures of aggression resume against them yet again, only this time, escalate to an unprecedented degree of ruthlessness, forcing the surviving victims to their breaking points.

Nuclear Winter enveloped the planet with its relentless barrage of dark, sooty air. With each passing day, more and more people died. In a desperate attempt to give people a chance to survive, some government leaders chose to marshal the assets of their community. It was a polite way of saying take from those who have and give to those who have not.
