Historia
Ida Burton used to be Hollywood’s sweetheart until the best roles started drying up in her 40s. When Ida lands one of the leads in a big-budget lesbian rom-com, it's not only a chance at reviving her dwindling career. Maybe this movie can be an opportunity to finally burst out of the closet she's forced herself into. Faye Fleming has been at the top of her acting game and collecting awards for the past few years. When she's cast in a huge blockbuster opposite the legendary Ida Burton, she's over the moon.

Phew!!!

Steamy scenes, hilarious banter, and hope for myself for a future relationship. There were several times my jaw dropped and I went, “Guuuuuuurrrllll” because the pickup lines are fire. Also love the messaging, and boy did it get hot in the room several times when I was listening to certain parts. Love the sultry voice of the person reading the book.

After a summer spent trying to prevent a catastrophic war among the Greek gods, Percy Jackson finds his seventh-grade school year unnervingly quiet. Party Ponies for the win!
Revisado: 03-03-24
I absolutely love all Rick Riordan books. I originally got into them because of my son, but fell in love in the middle of the first book. Riordan has a way of making me belly laugh since I loved the Greek myths growing up. He has a way of making things more relatable and so hilarious as he modernizes these ancient myths.

Loved the inclusivity!
Revisado: 12-15-23
There were times when I felt like the music was a bit distracting, but there were times when I felt that the music was right on queue. The story was a bit silly and far fetched, but I got super into it like all Rick Riordan books. Highly recommend this one. I love the messaging, inclusivity and diversity of the characters, and hope things were stitched together in a beautiful story arc.

Historia
We live in a world of seeds. From our morning toast to the cotton in our clothes, they are quite literally the stuff and staff of life, supporting diets, economies, and civilizations around the globe. Just as the search for nutmeg and the humble peppercorn drove the Age of Discovery, so did coffee beans help fuel the Enlightenment and cottonseed help spark the Industrial Revolution. And from the fall of Rome to the Arab Spring, the fate of nations continues to hinge on the seeds of a Middle Eastern grass known as wheat.

This is an absolutely wonderful book. Had to listen to it twice because there was so much history and depth to it. I love the authors anecdotes and how he made the story of seeds so personable.

Historia
Have you ever wondered how peas, kale, asparagus, beans, squash, and corn have ended up on our plates? Well, Adam Alexander has. In The Seed Detective, Adam shares his own stories of seed hunting, with the origin stories behind many of our everyday food heroes. Taking us on a journey that began when we left the life of the hunter-gatherer to become farmers, he tells tales of globalization, political intrigue, colonization, and serendipity—describing how these vegetables and their travels have become embedded in our food cultures.

Such a good book!!
Revisado: 05-14-23
I admit I’m a bit of a seed nerd, so I was really excited when I saw this book pop up in my recommendations. I do NOT regret it! I absolutely love the UK accent, because I feel like some of the slang terminologies in this book would have fallen flat without it. I laughed, cried, grieved, and had so many emotions spill out through this wonderfully articulated piece of art. If you’re interested in learning the various histories of where our seeds for cultivated food crops come from - this is the book for you!

Revisado: 10-28-21
This book has so much heart, and meaning in it. As someone who has just gotten into farming and is now working for an organic seed company, this was perfect. Absolutely perfect. It’s really heavy on the trauma, but I feel it’s necessary. It has a really uplifting ending, even though there is so much heaviness to this. There is a lot of hope, and so many stories that are finally being shared and brought to the light. Highly recommend.

Historia
Shamanism is humanity’s oldest spiritual tradition. In much of the Western world, the indigenous pre-Christian spiritual practices have been lost. Yet at the northern fringes of Europe, Christianity did not displace the original shamanic practices until the end of the Viking age. Reconstructing the shamanic practices of the hunter-gatherers of Scandinavia, Evelyn Rysdyk explores the evolution of Norse shamanism from its earliest female roots to the pre-Christian Viking Age.

Sharing the gifts she has received from the elders of her tribe, the Penobscot Nation, she asks us to look deeply into the illusions we have labeled as truth and which separate us from our higher mind and from one another.
