So Glad I Read This!
Revisado: 02-16-23
There’s not nearly as much swearing as I thought there would be based on other people’s reviews so I’m really glad I gave this book a chance. It has taught me so much and made me see things differently! My favorite part was his advice on forgiveness, quoting the Bible “forgive them, for they know not what they do”. He further explained that people might hurt you but it’s not a reflection of you, it’s their bad programming such as from generational trauma in this case.

Cute!
Revisado: 12-02-21
Usually I stay away from YA novels because the love story annoys me so I almost didn’t purchase this one. But I actually loved the story as a whole and even the “love story” if you can call it that as it’s only a fraction of the book, and the ending was cute! Actually recommend!

Loved it!
Revisado: 11-15-21
First thing I need to mention is that I was really glad to see characters of diverse backgrounds and ethnicities. There’s not a whole lot but at least a few and one was a pretty main character.
Secondly, the story was great! Gave me an immense sense of comfort about what could happen after death and it showed me that people I have “lost” are still with me, guiding me. Now every time something very lucky or interesting happens I wonder if someone used a nudge. Definitely recommend!

Worth a listen
Revisado: 05-27-21
It had some good perspectives and wisdom on living after losing a loved one. I paused listening after about 3/4 of the book and then resumed a month or so later. I found it somewhat difficult to listen for so long every day after losing a loved one myself as many of the characters reflect on past times, but like I said, it does provide good comfort as well. I say it’s worth a listen!

More about love than death
Revisado: 10-11-20
I finished the book hoping the ending would turn it all around but it did not. I loved Leaving Time by the same author so I was expecting a huge twist at the end and there was a twist just nowhere near as big as I was expecting. I thought this book would give me some answers or points to ponder about death but it didn't. It touches on death only a little bit with the Egyptology and her job as a death doula but this definitely is not a tale of the afterlife and what it might bring. This is a love story of a woman and her ex-boyfriend. Although I found the information on ancient Egypt interesting and the few parts containing information on physics was interesting but love stories especially with ex-boyfriends are not for me so unfortunately this book was not for me.

I think Laurie Cameron does a pretty good job of explaining self compassion and how to do it especially with the meditations she walks you through. I’m planning to write them down so I can access them when I need them. Recommend!

Loved the music pieces! However a bit of death
Revisado: 09-20-20
For a children’s book there was more death than I expected. Two deaths are talked about in the story and referred back to quite a bit so just a warning. But other than that I loved the story and the music pieces they played! Plus the ending is really cute!

Can’t wait to listen to it again!
Revisado: 08-28-20
First off I want to say how amazing the narrator (Peter Capaldi) is! He really gets into the story and gives each rabbit and creature its own voice and style. Secondly the story is amazing as well! If you like animals especially rabbits then chances are you’ll enjoy this story! It’s got rabbits, a seagull (friend of the rabbits), a dog, a cat, crows, and foxes. Hearing the rabbits go through this huge journey in hopes of finding another place to live is inspiring. It was sad to say good bye but then I realized the wonderful thing about a story is you can always listen to it again ;)

Historia
You may think you know this story. There's a young queen about to be married. There are some good, brave, hardy dwarfs; a castle shrouded in thorns; and a princess cursed by a witch, so rumor has it, to sleep forever. But no one is waiting for a noble prince to appear on his trusty steed here. This fairy tale is spun with a thread of dark magic, which twists and turns and glints and shines.

Takes You Away!
Revisado: 08-16-19
I think I fell in love as soon as I heard the opening music. It's dark, whimsical, and wondrous. It feels really immersive will all the different voices and also the sound effects and such. I also loved the story! There really is no prince who swoops in to the save the day; it really is the queen who is the hero of the story. And I really connected with her when she realizes that she does have choices and doesn't have to do anything she doesn't want to just because society or anyone else says she should. I recently realized I felt the same way and so it really hit close to home for me. So glad I got this book even though it's really short, it's definitely something I'll be listening to again and again. Maybe even as a bedtime story too since the narrator has a very storybook time voice lol I really loved this! Highly recommend!

Male Character got on my nerves
Revisado: 08-13-19
The male character is supposed to come off as shy, nerdy so I thought I'd like it but he's not really like that at all. In one part the narrator says something like "he didn't want to say girls threw themselves at him, but they sure made talking and stuff easy in high school". Eye. roll. He goes on to describe how his good looks were good enough that girls didn't care he was in the math club. He then also states that he decided to take a break from dating because he dated so many girls in high school and just wanted to get some more real world experience. However, the girls in the book say that he doesn't date because he's shy. Obviously, that was not true. Finally he flirts with one of the other girls in the middle of the story! So he was just a guy who was trying to seem like a "good guy", and a lot of the things he said just made my eyes roll. Ingrid going along with it all also made my eyes roll.
As some of the reviewers mention, she is so guarded but yet she immediately warms up to this guy out of the blue. It doesn't make sense. I would definitely return if I could even though I got it for free.
