This Book Has Everything!!
Revisado: 04-16-18
What did you love best about The Stolen Marriage?
The best thing about this title is that it has everything. Not only the struggles of the main character with her sham of a marraige, but there's mystery that lingers behind the people of Hickory, and even her husband, Henry.
What other book might you compare The Stolen Marriage to and why?
The book is similiar in style to Diane Chamberlain's other titles, but in my opinion, the best, except Necessary Lies.
Which character – as performed by Susan Bennett – was your favorite?
That's a hard one. Susan Bennett does such a wonderful job portraying each character. Even though I love to hate him, Henry has such a complex storyline, it is fascinating. I wanted to hate him, but then when I realized the reason for his behavior, it changed everything.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
YES!!! I snuck away to listen as much as I possibly could!
Any additional comments?
This book is such a great read for all ages and interests. It brings a different era to light, and the details bring you into a world where WWII is a character in itself that plays throughout ever aspect of the story. I just couldn't empathize enough with the mistake that changed the lives' of everyone involved, and from the polio to the "old money snobbery" of Ms. Ruth, the story never lost me, and I wish there was a prequel that tells the story of the Kraft Family and Hickory.

I've heard another Karen White book, "Long Time Gone," and was hoping this book would be as good. I was not disappointed!
I loved this book and cried multiple times through the story! Well done and great performance!

Such a disappointment after "Big Little Lies"
Revisado: 08-13-14
What did you like best about The Last Anniversary? What did you like least?
The best part of this book was the storyline of the character, Grace. The WORST part of this was the performance. The narrator was absolutely terrible. Her dreary voice made me so depressed, and cast a web over the story that made it impossible to smile through. I cannot believe after the success of Liane Moriarty, that the producers could not figure out a better performer for this title. Wow! HUGE mistake!
Would you ever listen to anything by Liane Moriarty again?
Yes, because I love her books. The story here isn't that bad. It does tend to drag on a bit toward the end, and I wasn't exactly thrilled with some of the plot twists, but it was entertaining.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Heather Wilds?
Caroline Lee is THE BEST reader for Liane Moriarty's stories, hands down. Because of this performance, I will likely never listen to Heather Wilds again. I can't imagine her reading anything in an appropriate manner.....except a eulogy at the world's longest funeral.
Was The Last Anniversary worth the listening time?
If I had something else I was really dying to read, I probably would have stopped listening, and returned the book.
Any additional comments?
I was just REALLY disappointed with the performance here. The story was just okay, but the performance could have definitely made a positive difference on the overall quality. I cannot believe that anyone purposefully made the choice to use this performer as opposed to Caroline Lee, who does such a fantastic job on Liane Moriarty's works.

PERFECT!! Absolutely wonderful!!!!
Revisado: 08-07-14
I'm not sure how she did it, but with the magic formula of humor, Liana Moriarty was able to deliver yet another perfect read! Bringing the issues of bullying, domestic violence, and overly pretentious helicopter parents to the forefront of this story, the author weaves a fantastic and humorous story that will get everyone involved. Every second I enjoyed, and being able to be light-hearted about some of these major problems was just what I needed to end my summer. I'll definitely be listening again.
Caroline Lee also brought home another winner with her narration. Beautifully executed!!

Great, Real, and Inspiring Story
Revisado: 07-14-14
This was my 2nd Jennifer Weiner read. I loved the story, as I'm a bigger woman myself. However, I thought the story was a bit boring in parts, and dragged on in others. However, overall, the story was altogether good and exciting.
My only complaint was the reader. Her deep voice and characterizations weren't really something that went with the story. It was almost stereotypical, and seems as though they were indicating that all "bigger" women have masculine voices.

Reminds me of my childhood growing up in Rural KY
Revisado: 10-18-13
I'm not sure if it was because of the rural North Carolina mountains with the tobacco fields, or the church, but this book took me home. Granted, I never went to a "snake handling" church, but I loved the setting and story here. I actually listened to this book on Audible, but would have loved it just the same. It has a rural Kentucky feel to it as well, and that's why I think I was drawn to it. Either way, I'll be buying this to keep on my shelves as well.
