Uninteresting and fell flat
Revisado: 05-07-23
The story had potential but just fell flat especially because of how long it was. The author would have a funny moment built up and then… nothing.
The most interesting part of this story was about the main characters friend and her music career. That too fell flat and uninteresting the moment she built up some tension in that side story.
The stupidest part of the story comes from when the main character reveals she lost a child so all these ideas people had years ago about her depression were actually from that. Then the rest of the book focuses way to much on that. I’m sorry, she lost an unwanted pregnancy a few weeks in… the book should not have focused so much on that for explaining away every little thing after that pops up.
Don’t read this expecting a cute rom com. There is some rom but very little com.

Despite their newfound freedom, Beverly is constantly on guard: she creates a fake backstory, wears a disguise around town, and buries herself in DIY projects to stave off anxiety. Definitely one of Sparks better stories
Revisado: 09-22-22
I wasn’t sure I was going to like this book after I got a ways into it. I personally don’t identify and just find annoying stories that are children centric. If this is you, you might also struggle with listening to the portions of the story that focus on Beverly.
The above aside the potions around Colby and Morgan were absolutely adorable and refreshing. I enjoyed the setting of the book where they were and everything about their interactions. There is a surprise twist which will make rereading/relistening to this book more interesting to me.
As with all Nicholas Sparks books there is some tragedy when it comes to the characters in this book and in both POVs of the story, however not as bad as other books he’s written. I promise you won’t hate him at the end of this book.

Historia
Can you fall in love like they do in the movies? It's Evie Summers' job to find out. Because if she can't convince her film agency's biggest client, Ezra Chester, to write the romantic-comedy screenplay he owes producers, her career will be over. The catch? He thinks rom-coms are unrealistic - and he'll only put pen to paper if Evie shows him that it's possible to meet a man in real life the way it happens on the big screen. Cynical Evie might not believe in happily ever after, but she'll do what it takes to save the job that's been her lifeline.

Struggled to finish, painful to read
Revisado: 06-28-20
I had high hopes for the premises of the book, however I was met with a rather painful read. I liked the idea of a woman recreating situations to meet people as they do in movies. You know she's going to fail and maybe it would be light and funny. No, they are cringe worthy. The main character is very unlikeable and her friends are also unlikeable. I ended up skipping the last 4 or 5 chapters of dates before skipping to the the end to hear how it played out.

Historia
One night in an isolated college town in the hills of Southern California, a first-year student stumbles into her dorm room, falls asleep - and doesn't wake up. She sleeps through the morning, into the evening. Her roommate, Mei, cannot rouse her. Neither can the paramedics, nor the perplexed doctors at the hospital. When a second girl falls asleep, and then a third, Mei finds herself thrust together with an eccentric classmate as panic takes hold of the college and spreads to the town.

Unrealistic/underdeveloped
Revisado: 04-25-19
The synopsis for this story sounded amazing. I couldn't wait to read it. I was disappointed the longer the story went on and realized there is no main character. The characters do not really tie into each other. The idea of this disease and how people react to it I do not think are honest. Senarios or people come up and you think maybe they will play into a cure or development of the story. Nope! Just filler. There is no science behind the disease. You learn nothing about it at all. This is more like an exceptionally long fictional documary of people that just happened to be there. Though a real documentary would have doctors and science to back up the findings.

I don't get the appeal
Revisado: 03-30-17
I wanted to like this book but I had a hard time with the concept. I just couldn't get behind it. I liked the main characters and thought it was well written but probably won't read the others.
It seemed a like the show survivor but with kids and death.

Do not buy audible narration
Revisado: 06-29-16
The audible narration ruins this book. Text to speech is better on my kindle. The narration sounds like it was recorded on a hand recorder or on a car phones Bluetooth. The re recording sounds distant. The narrator also is very rigid and not relaxed. It felt scripted.
The story is cute but narration is awful. Buy the kindle book if you want to read it.

Dumb dumb dumb
Revisado: 02-23-16
I've been told to read this book for ages and how awesome it was. I read it and kept reading and hoped at some point I could connect with the characters. I never could. Then given the situation I figured there was something that would happen but the way it was written did not make me like the people. There was so many jumping narrators. People brought up that were irrelevant to the story. Then at the end, knowing what was going to happen it wasn't even that loving. I never felt like Will actually liked Louisa. And he just seemed selfish and didn't even do anything about her feelings except for throw money at her. This was dumb.

Interesting Read
Revisado: 01-05-16
This sounded very well written about a girl after her suicide. There were multiple things I saw that seemed like she never really asked for help but typical of a girl her age to think no one cares. You get really into Clay and where he fits in the story. What did he do. I know she was most mad for her death at the last person to get the tapes but I still think she never said what she was really thinking so even though she blames him I wouldn't as a listener.
