Ow, my ears!

A selection for my toddler in the car, this book had a cute story, but the narration was abysmal. She sounded as though she was double parked and needed to get through the story as fast as possible before she got a ticket! Oh and monotonous... My toddler didn't seem to mind, but it was killing me!

Butt overload!
Revisado: 12-14-05
I bought this book to listen to in the car on a long trip with my kids. They were so eager to hear it that we jumped in a week before we left and Oh how glad I am that I didn't have to listen to this book straight through! It stared out hilarious, the butt jokes were perfect for my young boys and the car erupted in giggles over and over. I had high hopes. However, after what seemed like the 40th hour of butt-this, butt-that and gassy landscapes and fart powered locomotion, even my boys were asking "Isn't it over YET?" So, while the narration was fine and the author quite animated and descriptive, he unfortunately proved that you CAN bore a car full of 5-9 year old boys with too many butt jokes! My kids went back to Captain Underpants and left Mr. Griffiths in the car!

Historia
The irreverent author of the cult classic Syrup hits his target in this satire on the wages of big capital. In Max Barry's hilarious vision of the near future, the world is run by giant American corporations, and employees take the last names of the companies they work for; The Police and The NRA are publicly traded security firms, and the U.S. government may only investigate crimes if they can bill a citizen directly.

Ouch, my ears
Revisado: 05-10-05
I admit I didn't get very far into this book, though I was very interested after having played Mr. Barry's online game and reading the concept behind the story. I was so disappointed! After a while I couldn't listen anymore, it just hurt. The narration was monotonous and dull and the characters were flat and uninteresting. I've read better stories by 8th graders!
