The Topic
Revisado: 03-28-25
Maybe this book would've been better in print, the narrator was either overdoing it or not doing enough. That heavy breathing, and the way she did Noah's voice? I'm really seeing how important good narration is.

Historia
When a woman unexpectedly loses her lifelong best friend and mentor, she finds herself burdened with the unwanted dog he has left behind. Her own battle against grief is intensified by the mute suffering of the dog, a huge Great Dane traumatized by the inexplicable disappearance of its master, and by the threat of eviction: Dogs are prohibited in her apartment building. While others worry that grief has made her a victim of magical thinking, the woman refuses to be separated from the dog except for brief periods of time.

Not for me
Revisado: 03-07-25
I struggled to finish this book. I had high hopes for it, but unfortunately, it failed to keep my attention. Part of my dislike for the book stems from the narration; it sounded so robotic that it was as if it was narrated by an AI. The premise of the book initially captivated me, especially since it's a movie featuring none other than Bill Murray. Once again, I had such high hopes, but despite the great storyline, the execution of the novel did not meet my expectations.

Historia
Jana Fleischer loves her life - wonderful family, best sister in the world, awesome soon to be sister-in-law, fabulous job, and a never-ending stream of men to chew through and spit out. So what if everyone says she’s too picky and she’s never had a real relationship? When a chance meeting with Brooke Donnelly leaves Jana literally and figuratively off-balance, it doesn’t take long for her initial annoyance to turn into the first sparks of friendship.

Sweet surprise

This was a really good book. I do love the story itself, the characters, and the well written progression of several coming to age events that occurred. This book was very relatable with multiple ah ha moments for me. Nicely done.

Historia
Delilah Green swore she would never go back to Bright Falls—nothing is there for her but memories of a lonely childhood where she was little more than a burden to her cold and distant stepfamily. Her life is in New York, with her photography career finally gaining steam and her bed never empty. Sure, it’s a different woman every night, but that’s just fine with her.

Simple, yet cute.
Revisado: 01-09-23
I fell in love with the characters. I would have changed the dynamic between Claire and her "Baby Daddy" - she seemed to toggle between him and Delilah, which took away from me understanding if she, in fact, loved Delilah Green or settled. Otherwise, the friendship between the ladies was spot on, and the trauma that got resolved with Delilah and her sister was one for the ages. Great book!

Historia
Olivia Carver's life in Lake Cabot, New York, is simple. That's how she likes it, even if she can't stop the town she loves from being overrun by wealthy tourists each summer. When she's not working at her family's paddleboard shop or spending time with her lovable but infuriating brothers, she puts her energy into writing professionally, a dream that has yet to materialize.

pleasantly surprised
Revisado: 11-11-21
The story was great, I'm a fool for happy endings. Admittedly, I struggled with a few chapters but I'm happy I stuck it out. The flaw would have been if I never finished. thankfully, that was not the case and story wrapped up better than I could have imagined.

Historia
Jacqueline Keys was ostracized from her small hometown of Pine Springs, Texas, when she was 17, sent away because she was gay. Fifteen years later - long after she'd hitch-hiked to Los Angeles, put herself through college, and had written her first best seller - Jacqueline is persuaded to go back to the tiny town of Pine Springs after her father's death. The quick trip she'd envisioned for the funeral turns into weeks as she learns her father's business is suddenly hers to manage. And she is also again face-to-face with the woman who, as a teen, had been Jackie's first crush.

I connected with Kay's character, coming out later in life and allowing herself to be unapologetically happy is AWESOME! Also, WAY TO GO MOM!
