This new collection of mystery stories set in New Orleans features O'Neil De Noux's recurring characters - 1940s Private-eye Lucien Caye, 1890s NOPD Detective Jacques Dugas as well as NOPD Homicide Detectives John Raven Beau, and Dino LaStanza (he's back!). There are also a couple ghost stories, a maniac story, the gold bug of Jean Lafitte, a man with moon hands and a future-cop story with a guy named Max.

GREAT COLLECTION FROM A GIFTED WRITER
Revisado: 04-03-19
O'Neil De Noux has the ability to write in many different genres and shine in all of them. This collection brings together some of his strongest characters, 1940s Private-eye Lucien Caye, 1890s NOPD Detective Jacques Dugas, NOPD Homicide Detective John Raven Beau, and the ever relyable NOPD Homicide Detective Dino LaStanza. Each story is a gem brought to life by the narration of John Tambascio. De Noux stories are great on the page, but his prose is such that listening to the audio of the tales gives them an added dimension. Highly recommended...

Historia
Come prowl the lonely, sometimes violent streets of American's most exotic city, the city that care forgot, New Orleans, with a lone-wolf private-eye named Lucien Caye. Unlike most 40s PIs, Caye rarely drinks, doesn't smoke or wear a hat (it messes up his hair). He's six feet tall with wavy, dark brown hair and standard-issue Mediterranean-brown eyes, a sly smile and a clever mind that often gets him into trouble. Caye lives and works in the run-down New Orleans French Quarter of the late 1940s.

ATMOSPHERE, MURDER, AND NEW ORLEANS…
Revisado: 02-04-16
O'Neil De Noux’s 1940 New Orleans private-eye Lucien Caye is one of the hardboiled genre’s best kept secrets and, as such, deserves a much wider audience. Listen to Scott Galloway Smith’s assured narration of the stories collected in New Orleans Confidential and I have no doubt you will immediately be clamoring for more. De Noux is a prolific author, but I have always been partial to his Lucien Caye stories with their atmosphere drenched period setting and De Noux’s ability to consistently expand the tropes of the private-eye story beyond cliché. I originally read the stories these stories a few years ago and it was great to return to them and gain further appreciation via this terrific audio performance…An enthusiastic five stars…

Historia
It's Police Detective Dino LaStanza's first week in Homicide and he must handle the horrific murder of Marie Sumner, slashed to death on a quiet French Quarter street. LaStanza and his partners work long, frustrating hours with no results. When another woman is slashed to death along Bayou St. John, the detectives bear witness to the carnage again. LaStanza feels even worse this time, almost useless.

GREAT AUDIO OF A FAVORITE
Revisado: 09-07-15
I have long been a fan of O'Neil De Noux's novels, so it was great to enjoy this early favorite in audio form. As with all of the LaStanza novels, the story and the characters ring with the authenticity only somebody who has actually worked homicide investigations can bring to a narrative. This was an assured audio performance from Michael J. McCue in the lively style of a great oral storyteller drawing you into the tale. Top notch...
