What did you love best about One True Loves?
This story broke my heart in more than one way.
The loss of a loved one is a difficult topic to talk about and especially of your husband. The author had me wrapped up in the story where I could picture myself in the shoes of the protagonist, Emma. It evoked feelings and heartbreaks that are caused by the decisions that were made.
What about Julia Whelan’s performance did you like?
I love Julia Whelan’s narration, so when I finished with an audiobook that was narrated by her, I went looking for another one by her, and that’s how I stumbled upon One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I had never heard of this author before so the only credibility this novel had was that it was narrated by one of my favorite audiobook narrators.
Any additional comments?
What does it mean to love truly?
The title of the story One True Loves might help suggest what it means. How you can love more than one person as you keep evolving and changing. How the death of Emma’s husband changed her as a person that she could no longer be with a person like her husband anymore. (Does that make sense.)
Just because you don’t love someone the same way anymore doesn’t mean your love for that person was any less at the time.
As much as it broke my heart, the story stayed with me and probably that’s why it’s taken me so long to talk about it.
It was very engaging, and you don’t know which way it’s going to go. You feel just as conflicted yourself because the author has done a pretty good job of making the reader fall in love with both the love interests.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes!
The Light of Paris is a simple story and is written very elegantly. It explores the self-discovery of two women in two very different time periods. It shows the courage it takes to be who we really are. But also that the end result is not always picture perfect. The two stories mirror each other, and that was beautifully written.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
The story seamlessly oscillates between early 1920’s with Madeleine grandmother, Margie’s rebellion to live the life she never dreamed she could have and late 1990’s where Madeleine is fighting herself for wanting to walk out on a marriage that has kept her stifled for so long.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed Eleanor’s writing, this being my first of her books. Cassandra Campbell’s narration of the audio book was brilliant. She did an excellent job of finding different voices for the women in this book that captured the character’s essence very well.

Made me wonder for days.
Revisado: 02-23-16
Where does Life Drawing rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
It's definitely among the top 20 books.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Augusta is definitely my favorite given the layers she has. The complexity of her character really hooked me in.
What about Cassandra Campbell’s performance did you like?
Cassandra has really captured the voices of the carious characters.
If you could take any character from Life Drawing out to dinner, who would it be and why?
It would be Owen. I'd really like to know what was he thinking when he decided to give his marriage a second chance and a third chance. I want to know if he was really brave or a coward to give Augusta so many chances.
Any additional comments?
Got me really thinking:
"That's what happens when one of you dies. The clock stops. The story ends. (You) begin to see patterns. Begin to understand. Maybe the patterns are only the ones that you impose. But the thing takes on a different shape. It takes on a shape. Or, as one of my teachers used to say, you cannot see the landscape you’re in."
"There are often two conversations going on in a marriage. The one that you’re having and the one you’re not, sometimes you don't even know when that second, silent one has begun."

Historia
Charley sees dead people. That's right, she sees dead people. And it's her job to convince them to "go into the light." But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e., murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she's been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely.
