A 46 hour long cringe-filled, power fantasy

First, Nick Podehl is the single saving grace of this audio book. What we did to deserve this man, I'll never know.

The book is breathtaking in it's own way. Namely, that you wish you couldn't breathe half the time you're reading it. Between the 2010 memes that somehow still exist in 2037, the absolute paper thin characters, or the 8 hours dedicated to reading the same prompts and item descriptions, it really just wears on you.

The entire history of the world of The Land is summarized in less time than it takes to look over the stats of the protagonist's rings (which he does roughly 8 ****ing times).

The party scenes are the work of a man who has never been to a party, the sex scenes are your basic "OMG a threesome with hot elf babes!" fare, and the not a single one of the other characters ever grows beyond feeling like a slightly more deep NPC.

If you can stomach cringy memes, sex, parties, and characters, the action scenes are quite decent, and the narration is unparalleled.

Sanderson is phenomenal, as usual. superb narrator

the novellas are all great, and Sanderson is, as always, in top form. the narration is something truly wonderful to behold. To be able to uniquely voice that many different characters in quick succession? remarkable.

good book, poor narration

After the remarkable narration in book 1, it's disappointing to get a poor performance for the second book.

what is going on with the narrator?

The story is remarkable as usual, however Roy has changed voices for certain characters and forgotten how other names are pronounced seemingly at will. He's made some of the best parts of the story otherwise unpleasant with these jarring changes of pace and i can't imagine why. It's unlikely they skimped on production for this series with its enormous popularity of late.

Truly unfortunate.
