Historia
The ninth floor. Nine armies, each led by rich and powerful aliens from across the galaxy. Each team has one objective: to capture and hold the castle at the very center of the battlefield. Strategy, alliances, pitched battles, and, of course, betrayal ... It all makes for great fun and even greater television. After all, none of these powerful aliens really die when they’re playing war. Except this time. This time, winner takes all. Those who fall, stay in the ground.

DCC is so good. Sad that we caught up to the latest release, it means that we have to wait the full time until the next one.
Jeff Hayes is an amazing narrator.

Historia
Hailed as one of the world’s masterpieces of psychological realism, The Death of Ivan Ilyich is the story of a worldly careerist, a high-court judge who has never given the inevitability of his death so much as a passing thought. But one day death announces itself to him, and to his shocked surprise he is brought face-to-face with his own mortality. How, Tolstoy asks, does an unreflective man confront his one and only moment of truth?

Well read.
A good performance of a classic.
Tolstoy captured death as it can be, not how it is for all.

Historia
When we think about the future, it can be difficult to feel that we have any control. We aren't confident that we can take actions and make decisions that help determine what happens next. We want to feel prepared, hopeful and equipped and to face the future with optimism. Or, better yet, change the future. But how do we map out our lives when it feels impossible to predict what the world will be like next week, let alone next year? Jane McGonigal, a renowned future forecaster, reveals that 'unimaginable' events aren't unimaginable before they happen.

Revisado: 03-27-22
This book will challenge you. No doubt about it.
You will be guided to take yourself to places you might rather not go. There is no doubt you will be better for it though and hopefully you will be inspired to make the changes you want.
You might even realise that there are things right now that you want to do but felt stuck starting.
I will be recommending to everyone but certainly finding the young people in my life and sharing the book and the ideas with them.
I believe the future is what you make it, and here is the book to help you do just that.

Historia
Sleep is one of the most important aspects of our life, health and longevity and yet it is increasingly neglected in 21st century society, with devastating consequences: every major disease in the developed world - Alzheimer's, cancer, obesity, diabetes - has very strong causal links to deficient sleep. Until very recently, science had no answer to the question of why we sleep, or what good it served, or why its absence is so damaging to our health. Compared to the other basic drives in life - eating, drinking and reproducing - the purpose of sleep remained elusive.

Staggering. Mind blown.
Revisado: 02-22-18
As with chasing the scream, Hari has taken a subject we all know so well. It is a subject that has affected people we know and are so sure that we have all the facts about. Hari plainly outlines what we think and then proceeds to show us the actual evidence which will probably shock you that what we have been doing for so long is wrong or at least not enough. As the name of the book suggests we have lost our connection to home, community, life and this may we'll be the first of many guides to get us back to reality.
well read by the author comma the book is perfectly paced to give you enough information without overwhelming you. One of the best books I have read and now sits with chasing the scream as one of my most recommended books.

A biting satire about a young man's isolated upbringing and the race trial that sends him to the Supreme Court, Paul Beatty's The Sellout showcases a comic genius at the top of his game. It challenges the sacred tenets of the United States Constitution, urban life, the civil rights movement, the father-son relationship, and the holy grail of racial equality: the black Chinese restaurant.

Historia
Maverick thinker Nassim Nicholas Taleb had an illustrious career on Wall Street before turning his focus to his black swan theory. Not all swans are white, and not all events, no matter what the experts think, are predictable. Taleb shows that black swans, like 9/11, cannot be foreseen and have an immeasurable impact on the world.

If you could sum up The Black Swan in three words, what would they be?
Stunningly simple revelations.
What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?
Bad things will happen, better think about them at least.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Would have loved to, but I take my hat off to the person who could digest it all in one go.
