Historia
After his final trip up the river Thames with his three companions - - Harris, George, and Montmorency the dog - - Jerome K. Jerome sat down to write his proposed book, The Story of the Thames. But before he could tackle the work in the serious manner intended, his humor took over and gave birth to a masterpiece of unquenchable comedy. This is a classic of English humor, justifiably loved around the world.

A delightful voyage of discovery… for the reader!
Revisado: 10-08-23
You not only get a fun, easy-going and satirical story but also insights into a by-gone age. That’s all good, even fascinating. But like reading Hamlet you stub your toe on the true source of many great and common quotes and meet them in the flesh. Example: “work fascinates me, I can stare at it for hours”. Little gems like punctuate an altogether comedic gem.

Historia
In a village in ancient Norway lives a boy named Odd, and he's had some very bad luck: His father perished in a Viking expedition; a tree fell on and shattered his leg; the endless freezing winter is making villagers dangerously grumpy. Out in the forest Odd encounters a bear, a fox, and an eagle - three creatures with a strange story to tell. Now Odd is forced on a stranger journey than he had imagined, a journey to save Asgard, city of the gods, from the Frost Giants who have invaded it.

Very nice, simple story
Revisado: 08-24-16
Love this story. Basic, simple fireside tale of a crippled Viking boy who ends up saving the Norse Gods. My little guy and I have listened to it so many times. No violence either, he wins by cleverness. A good lesson. And it's funny!
Highly recommended.

Historia
There are some odd things about Nate’s new apartment. Of course, he has other things on his mind. He hates his job. He has no money in the bank. No girlfriend. No plans for the future. So while his new home isn’t perfect, it’s livable. The rent is low, the property managers are friendly, and the odd little mysteries don’t nag at him too much. At least, not until he meets Mandy, his neighbor across the hall, and notices something unusual about her apartment. And Xela’s apartment. And Tim’s. And Veek’s.

Nicely done Mystery mingled with SciFi and Fantasy

Any additional comments?
Some interesting, evolving characters. Not everything (or everyone) is as it seems. As I read this book I was verbally sharing updates with my son and he was mesmerized. We couldn't believe what was behind apartment 14 -- though we speculated correctly about some of the characters.
I felt the ending came a little quick though. Loose ends left all over. I hope we have further adventures in the Building.

Historia
John Archibald Dortmunder, the bumbling comic criminal of The Hot Rock and Good Behavior, wants the treasure that a member of the mob buried before going to jail - a cool $750,000. The problem? It's under a reservoir. A second problem? A much nastier criminal also wants the loot, and is willing to blow up a dam to get it! Follow the escapades - including a rather unusual use of Mount Rushmore - of Dortmunder and his gang in this installment of Donald Westlake's hilarious, suspenseful series.

One of my favorite Dortmunders
Revisado: 04-30-05
Note: I listened to a separate recording (Kramer, not Johnson) and my comments apply to that. But it shouldn't matter because it is the plot of this story that stands out. It is the most challenging puzzle Dortmunder has to solve -- and that's saying a lot. Naturally, there are many complications and twists. It's nice to note that "good" not "greed" finally becomes the dominant (if not initial) driver for the Dortmunder gang. Westlake also introduces 2 very amusing though short-lived characters in this book.
