Historia
After the latest mission of the starship Flying Dutchman, Earth is safe not just for a year, but for hundreds of years. The ship’s weary crew wonders what they will do with their lives in peacetime, but the enemy has other plans, and there is danger on the Homefront. Starring Zachary Quinto, R.C. Bray, Kate Mulgrew, Robert Picardo, and everyone's favorite AI, Skippy the Magnificent, alongside a full cast. Includes plenty of pew-pew-pew, original sound composition, and maybe some singing by R.C. Bray.

The weakest installment by far. The writing is not as strong as the other books and the voice acting is inconsistent throughout. My biggest gripe is having "Tier One Operator" characters that act and sound like boot camp recruits.

Historia
Viv's career with the notorious mercenary company Rackam's Ravens isn't going as planned. Wounded during the hunt for a powerful necromancer, she's packed off against her will to recuperate in the sleepy beach town of Murk—so far from the action that she worries she'll never be able to return to it. What's a thwarted soldier of fortune to do? Spending her hours at a beleaguered bookshop in the company of its foul-mouthed proprietor is the last thing Viv would have predicted, but it may be both exactly what she needs and the seed of changes she couldn't possibly imagine.

Cozy Fantasy is a thing I didn't know I needed
Revisado: 11-29-23
I'm usually the type who is in the mood for Sci-Fi, Suspense, and Action in the books I read/listen to. But sometimes, I just need a break to slow things down and relax. The Legends and Lattes series has given me that. There is something calm and entertaining about these characters simply living their lives. And I love it. This book does a good job of capturing what made the first book special while adding a little more. I can't say it was better than the first story, but it compliments it nicely. I'm interested to see where the story goes from here.

I was skeptical at first...
Revisado: 11-29-23
I'll be the first to admit that I was skeptical about this story. How good could a prequel, to a cartoon series that first aired 18 years ago, possibly be? But with DiMartino's guidance, F.C. Yee was able to create something truly special. This is a prequel done right. It adds to the overall story first laid out and fills in the gaps. What I found was a world with a rich history to be discovered. It's not all happy kids going on an adventure. There are whole underworlds and political intrigue to be explored. I loved it and I'm working my way through the rest of the titles now. I hope to see more.

Historia
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start filling mugs instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

Low Stakes Slice of Life Fantasy
Revisado: 01-18-23
Low Stakes Fantasy? Yes, please! The story and characters were all very engaging. I would love to have stories in this world as a series. The MC is well-written and doesn't get lost in the plot. If you like fantasy books, you might appreciate taking the time to live in a world over just running characters from one action sequence to another. I highly recommend this book.

Historia
The galaxy is doomed. Monkeys may be clever and too stubborn to give up, but Skippy The Idiot Who Got Played knows the harsh truth: this is a fight he can’t win. The odds are not only stacked against him, he was designed not to win this fight. Maybe he can salvage some faint memory of the civilizations that inhabit the galaxy, but those beings are doomed. Doomed. Including the Merry Band of Pirates.

Didn't stick the landing.
Revisado: 12-15-22
I wanted to enjoy this. I've been listening since the beginning. If this is truly the end of the series, that's too bad. This story felt rushed towards the end. There were a couple emotional beats but no real payoffs.

Nothing really happens.
Revisado: 08-03-22
It's hard to say, but this arc of The Lost Fleet series feels a bit stagnant. Nothing really seems to be going on. It's like these are chapters of a larger book. I don't mean that in the same way that books are part of a series. I mean the pacing feels like I should be approaching some kind of climax, but it just falls flat. You can do this kind of thing if you're a great writer. However, I've always felt these have so-so writing with an interesting premise and story elements. When you take those away, you're left with mediocre writing. I'll likely keep up with the story, but I'm hoping for some more action or bigger revelations going forward.

Historia
When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world.

Popcorn Sci-Fi
Revisado: 03-22-22
Popcorn Sci-Fi is not an insult. This is a fun story with an interesting concept. Just like popcorn, it's tasty but won't fill you up. There are a few story points that I wish more elaboration. But, the everyman main character is not somebody you would expect to know everything anyway. I think this story has the potential to be an enjoyable series. I certainly hope the author will continue to flesh out this story and its characters.

The problem with lying about having a super weapon is that the bad guys might believe they have nothing to lose by doing something stupid that both sides will regret. Or, they might just call your bluff. Either way, the Merry Band of Pirates need a plan to deal with the Fallout.

Great Penultimate Entry for the series.
Revisado: 12-14-21
This book delivered on the setup that left the last entry feeling a bit lackluster. I trufly had fun listening to this story. It's bittersweet knowing that the next entry will close out the series that I've spent years listening to. Can't wait to see that the future holds for Mr. Alanson.
