Historia
This is the story of Kiril Lakota, a cardinal who reluctantly steps out from behind the Iron Curtain to lead the Catholic Church and to grapple with the many issues facing the contemporary world. The pope is dead, and the corridors of the Vatican hum with intrigue as cardinals gather to elect his successor. The result is a surprise: the new pope is the youngest of them all - a bearded Ukrainian. The Shoes of the Fisherman is the moving story of Kiril I, recently released from 17 years in Siberian labour camps and haunted by his past.

Very good book for a Catholic
Revisado: 08-16-21
Enjoyed the book which gives a very detailed description of the role of the Pope and priests in the Catholic Church… the only thing that made it difficult to follow was the narrator’s failure to make good enough distinctions in the characters and change of scenes… at times it was hard to follow…

Remarkable man
Revisado: 10-04-20
Having Ben and am a cradle Catholic who does his best to practice the faith that I grew up with.... in today’s world the ability to do what we did back in the fifties and sixties is sadly dwindling .... no longer are there daily Masses, especially those at the crack of dawn. This book made me realize with the effort of a man like justice Scalia it still is with us. we just have realize it’s worth to ourselves, our friends and neighbors and out country.... will probably read this book many things in the future....

Clinton he didn’t mention but Trump he does
Revisado: 10-01-20
I read reviews before buying the book even though I really enjoy the authors writings.... based on my readings it appeared a lot of readers believed it was a novel based on facts.... it was a satire and the fact real names were used makes me believe it was done to show how idiotic the MSM is in concocting stories that easily can be duplicated in a novel..... I maybe wrong but that’s my take on it.... not his best work as it dragged in spots and I really wanted it to end.... very unusual for a CB book

Could have been much better
Revisado: 07-23-20
The information provided by the author about viruses and history of pandemics was excellent. The book went downhill from there.... seemed like the editor/publisher decided it was too long or something because it jumped in time from chapter to chapter. It had the required sexual parts, the descriptive horror, the modern slams at the existing government and the typical sudden ending that modern day novels seem to relish.... oops that’s all the time we have .... similar to a TV series that was cancelled with an episode left.... enjoyed the book at times but was left not impressed....

Historia
Secular humanism has triumphed. Everything the late Victorians and Edwardians believed would bring human happiness has been achieved: Technology has made it so no one needs to work for a living, the social sciences ensure a smooth-running social order, and, in the name of tolerance, religious beliefs have been uprooted and eliminated except for a single holdout - a largely discredited and rapidly shrinking Catholic Church. Yet people are unhappy.

Revisado: 09-01-19
Identity and victim books.... I was pleasantly surprised that it espoused responsibility for your own actions and other Christian principles .... I did have a hard time following the characters because of the forward backward forward style that appears to be in vogue in modern novels.... good job
