Historia
Harvest, Ohio, is a long way from New York City, where Bailey King left a coveted job as a head chocolatier to take over Swissmen Sweets, her Amish grandparents' candy shop. But between lavender blueberry fudge and chocolate cherry ganache truffles, Bailey may have bitten off more than she can chew when the search for a missing pot-bellied pig turns up a body suffering from sugar overload - the fatal kind....

Whiny
Revisado: 07-12-24
I have listened to many many dozens of cozy mysteries and this one is one of the worst ones. I just couldn’t finish it and won’t be listening to the rest. The first book in the series was very similar in nature but I stuck it out because first books in series usually aren’t the best and I was hoping for more. The characters are so whiny and irritating and the themes repetitive. I find the restrictiveness of the culture and bigotry from both cultures to be too much for a supposedly cozy mystery. I was uncomfortable the whole time! I will get my credit back. I really loved her Magical Bookshop Mysteries series so I would definitely recommend listening to those. I haven’t tried any of her other series.

Historia
From America’s top psychic medium and the author of When Heaven Calls comes a new book that unveils the secrets of the afterlife, the truth about heaven, and inspires “us with his comforting certainty that we never die” (Gloria Estefan). Psychic medium Matt Fraser, author of When Heaven Calls, is back to unpack the number one question folks ask him: “What happens after death?” Although we might expect a complicated answer, it’s actually pretty simple: We never die!

Very comforting

I’ve listened to many books about this topic and I really loved this book. As someone who still deals with grief after many many years, I found this extremely comforting. Highly recommended.

I almost returned this book but am glad I didn’t
Revisado: 08-27-21
I’ve listened to all the Pendergast books. Honestly, I couldn’t get into this for about 1/2 the book. The narrator was excellent in general but his voices for Pendergast and Constance were too jarring. However, I must have gotten used to him because I am so happy I stuck with it! Please don’t give up.

Alfie Boe is the first official bad boy of opera: a musical superstar celebrated not only in Britain, but worldwide. This is the story of his life - the ups and the downs, from finding fame to losing his father - and, essentially, of his love affair with music. This is the tale of how Alfie went from car mechanic to the UK's most popular and well-known opera star, lauded by Baz Luhrman, Cameron Macintosh and Michael Parkinson as the best tenor we've produced in a generation.

Historia
For as long as she can remember, Lorna Byrne has seen angels. As a young child, she assumed everyone could see the otherworldly beings who always accompanied her. Yet in the eyes of adults, her abnormal behavior was a symptom of mental deficiency. Today, sick and troubled people from around the world are drawn to her for comfort and healing, and even theologians of different faiths seek her guidance.

Life changing 😇
Revisado: 07-31-17
What made the experience of listening to Angels in My Hair the most enjoyable?
The narrator was absolutely perfect.
What did you like best about this story?
On a very personal level, this book showed me that I don't have to be perfect to love myself. Even though today's society is obsessed with judging ourselves and others if you don't have everything you want and you aren't perfect, it showed me that bad things still can happen yet God and the angels are always by our side to support and unconditionally love us. It helped me to relax into life a little more.
What does Sile Bermingham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Her lovely subtle Irish accent gave the story the sweetness and love that this book deserves.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Many of the scenes were extremely touching.
Any additional comments?
For anyone who is having a difficult time, this book is so comforting IMHO. For anyone who isn't sure if God or the angels exist and needs to have more faith, this book is for you.
