Long But Worth It

The narrators both do an incredible job, each having to master a myriad of accents. Having read all the preceding books in the series, it was most gratifying to understand how Atlas was connected to the birth family of each of his 6 adopted daughters. I appreciate the kindness he showed towards the vulnerable, the justice he sought for the downtrodden, and the gratitude he showed toward all the people who had helped him survive and thrive.

I laughed out loud and sighed with sadness. Sometimes the storyline read like a soap opera, but then the reality of the degrading abuse heaped on anyone considered lesser (gender, religion, caste, etc.) reminded me that there is injustice occurring all around us, and we’re just as culpable if we don’t join the fight to stop it.

I got so much out of this book. Took pages of notes and listened to the final 3 chapters twice. The author talks really fast and passionately. Sometimes listening to him made me agitated. Maybe I should have slowed the speed. I recommend reading this book over listening to it. I’ll probably buy the book now.

Brian Buffini recommends this book. Listening to it was painful because the reader sounded like an old retired professor that has read this book aloud 99 times. I’m going to buy a copy so I can focus on the author’s great ideas and exercises for overcoming the will to fail.
