Historia
The Devil comes to Moscow, but he isn't all bad; Pontius Pilate sentences a charismatic leader to his death, but yearns for redemption; and a writer tries to destroy his greatest tale, but discovers that manuscripts don't burn. Multi-layered and entrancing, blending sharp satire with glorious fantasy, The Master and Margarita is ceaselessly inventive and profoundly moving. In its imaginative freedom and raising of eternal human concerns, it is one of the world's great novels.

Historia
The Bette referred to in this magnificent novel's title is Lisbeth Fischer, an excruciatingly cunning poor relation who both depends upon and nurses a terrible grudge against the family of her beautiful cousin, Adeline. That family is slowly being ruined by the uncontrollable sexual appetites of Adeline's husband, Baron Hulot - appetites that will, in time, give Cousin Bette opportunity to exact her vengeance.

Classical Realism

A pretty good novel. Balzac draws a picture of the Paris of the 1800's with much accuracy and detail. Characters you love and others you hate.
You really got to put the 1800's chip on, because women's treatment, attitude, etc , does exasperate quite a bit.
And the reader, great!

Historia
Throughout these books, Follett has followed the fortunes of five intertwined families - American, German, Russian, English, and Welsh - as they make their way through the twentieth century. Now they come to one of the most tumultuous eras of all: the enormous social, political, and economic turmoil of the 1960s through the 1980s, from civil rights, assassinations, mass political movements and Vietnam to the Berlin Wall, the Cuban Missile Crisis, presidential impeachment, revolution - and rock and roll.

The saga comes to an end.
Revisado: 04-22-21
The final book of the century trilogy. More descendants of all the original characters, this time involved in music as well as politics. It covers very exciting and important events like the the Kennedy assassination, civil rights movement, Martin Luther King, Watergate, Cold War, the fall of the Berlin Wall, and more... I did feel, since it was the time of free love (I guess that´s one reason) all characters are very centered in sex, breast size, every size...and I found it a little too much.
All in all it is the conclusion of the trilogy and it´s pretty good.
What I really liked was the narrator John Lee, he is GREAT!!!! Just one reader with all these characters, nationalities, gender, age...WOW!!! I think it was the best part of it all, if I had read it on my own I wouldn´t have been so moved, his reading brought tears to my eyes on more than one occasion. JOHN LEE, YOU´RE THE BEST!!!

In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Great!!
Revisado: 03-03-21
I loved this book. A life that wasn't easy, a mother that made all the difference, a boy's view of growing up in South Africa with a lot against him but with strength, faith and humor to help him get through it all.
What makes this a great listen too is hearing it read by the author himself.

Historia
Narrator Dan Stevens ( Downton Abbey) presents an uncanny performance of Mary Shelley's timeless gothic novel, an epic battle between man and monster at its greatest literary pitch. In trying to create life, the young student Victor Frankenstein unleashes forces beyond his control, setting into motion a long and tragic chain of events that brings Victor to the very brink of madness. How he tries to destroy his creation, as it destroys everything Victor loves, is a powerful story of love, friendship, scientific hubris, and horror.

Mary Shelly more than centering on the science fiction of the matter speaks more about reflection, philosophy and understanding human nature.

Historia
The modern audience hasn't had a chance to truly appreciate the unknowing dread that readers would have felt when reading Bram Stoker's original 1897 manuscript. Most modern productions employ campiness or sound effects to try to bring back that gothic tension, but we've tried something different. By returning to Stoker's original storytelling structure - a series of letters and journal entries voiced by Jonathan Harker, Dr. Van Helsing, and other characters - with an all-star cast of narrators, we've sought to recapture its originally intended horror and power.
