some solid advice peppered throughout, but the authors deep personal demons are loud and clear. the tone switches between helpful, and sometimes dismissively sinister. that being said, men that have struggled with codependency can glean some useful advice to avoiding past mistakes. the biggest fault I could find is that the often touted emphasis on healthy boundaries and relationships is asserted with very little detail: I never felt like I got a clear picture as to what's actually "healthy"

highly recommended for any divorce with kids

I usually read reviews and breakdowns of a book before purchasing so I can get a sense of what the author has to offer. I neglected to do that before buying this book and I regret it. the first hour of the book is wasted using nonsense terms to describe things no one has ever proven about people. The last hour of the book is equally useless unless you're really going to put yourself through these partner exercises listening to his voice. His delivery was god-awful. I would never read another book written by this author especially if he's the one doing the reading. there was a middle section in there that actually offered some reliable and useful information about how to check ourselves and our emotions when interacting with others. I feel like I wish I could only have bought that chapter and not wasted my time with the rest of this nonsense.

if you love a woman, get this book. ATTUNE works immediately. there are some assumptions steeped in traditional role definitions at the end, toward the sexuality section. these may or may not apply to your relationship. either way, the content and the concept are worth a listen.
