I highly recommend this read for any critic of Musk. Typical of this author, Isaacson is comprehensive and granular in telling this fantastic story.

Fresh visions of Celtic history

Brief but recommended podcasts. Celtic history has been written and re-written from many perspectives, some suspect. This author provides honest, clear visions of Celtic history that I find refreshing; for example, he makes a clear case for a distinct Celt-type coined as Hallstatt Celts. Furthermore, the Celtic language(s) are among the few traces of evidence we have about Celtic history – to understand the linguistic nuances and primary sources, we gain a more solid foundation of knowledge. Finally, the author is systematic and thorough, and his analyses are well-cited.
I look forward to his following podcasts in this series.

Redundant reading, unless you know nothing

The author has a specific understanding of blockchain crypto currencies (cited explicitly in this book are Bitcoin and Ethereum). And, the volume of college finance textbook definitions paraphrased throughout the book reveals his limited financial sector knowledge (especially limited is his understanding of introductory macroeconomics and the regulatory environment). The text reads like a college term paper. The narrative is essentially a series of cut-and-paste references from other sources. I have to say that I knew the information explained by the author simply by staying current with the financial news media coverage. Unless you don't know anything about cryptocurrencies and blockchains, this book will be redundant for you.

Entertaining approach to French history thru food

Well written and well narrated. It mentions right-wing political maneuvers maybe a half dozen times throughout the entire book, but that is the reality of French politics. I did not find this offensive or inappropriate, as some reviewers have (if you don’t want to read about these types of realities, you should read a cookbook, instead). As a Francophile who has visited France every year (except 2020) since 1996, the book puts food into historical perspective for me — I now have a much better appreciation for the French culture. This well-researched book provides important insight into how food has been used for political and cultural purposes going back centuries; but mostly, it’s an excellent story about the French and their long love affair with good food. Highly recommend.

Insightful of contemporary culture, hard to hear

This memoir provides bright insight into the popular culture that the author, Guy Branum, emerged in and from growing up and then becoming a writer about it. Enjoyed the 80% of Guy Branum's audio – missed the other 20% while driving my car across country because Mr. Branum, the narrator, trails off at the end of sentences. In other words, the volume level was too soft, his voice goes practically to a whisper frequently throughout the audio book. I was tired of going back 30 seconds every 30 minutes, so I just chose to be satisfied with the 80% that I could hear from this audio memoir. PS, I always listen to audio books while driving, but this recording has many sentences that are exceptionally hard to hear because the narrator varies the volume of his voice greatly.

Great foodie talk, great palate

Story started out and continued beyond the midpoint really well; nice coming of age, heartwarmingly being true to himself. Some of the cast of characters, eg, running into James Beard and Julia Child, seems a bit of a stretch, but not a deal breaker. Whatever happened to Bruno? Have to say, the foodie talk – the development of his palate – was excellent.

Selectively taking no prisoners — poor Ted Cruz and Donald Trump. Good show of reason and reflection about a time when politicians understood the value of striking a deal across the isle.

Really enjoyed this well researched, thoroughly detailed history of Keynes and the lasting impact he has made. It begins around his circle in the Bloomsbury group and provides great detail from his pioneering monetary policies in the 1920s through to his General Theory...and through to his major influence or impact on the present day political economy. It gets sidetracked along the way (interestingly, with historic relevance) telling the good backstories. It’s well worth the read and timely for anyone who appreciates the role policy plays in the political economy.

The book introduces and expands on the first and second mountain concepts – nice work – but Brooks is, to a fault, mesmerized by his own religious awareness/awakening.

Dr. Yueh provides an excellent and lucid perspective of this otherwise "dismal" science. I would recommend this book to everyone (literally). I have an undergraduate degree in economics and really wish I'd could have read something like this as a student (40 years ago). An excellent contribution to the field of economics and political economics.
