A fun story where the location was quite interesting and all in all a nice dark story. The narrator mispronounces things here and there (macabre as muh-kob-ray) which is a little jarring but overall does a good job with the teen girl's voices and it's only a few times.

I had high hopes for this book but found it very annoying and after listening to it, angry that it wasted my time. I'm glad I have my money back, if only I could get my time returned.

A timeless classic done justice by Andy Serkis.

It's been a number of years since reading and listening to The Hobbit. This past Tolkien day I picked up The Hobbit, and LotR narrated by Mr Serkis. My only regret is not having listened to them sooner. The wonderful voice work brings life to old friends and are a joy to listen to. Well done! Very well done!

Liked it, but...

I thought the performances were done well, the background music was not too overpowering, but I did have one pretty major problem with this production and that occurred mostly in the New Testament.

In most of the books, they interrupt the books for full on gospel songs. Not at the end of the chapter, or beginning, but smack dab in the middle of the books... Scripture is being read, then boom, gospel song, then it picks up as if nothing happened with, “Therefore..”. Not once, or twice, but over and over, in every one of Paul’s letters, and most of the others.

Another problem I had with it, to a much lesser extent was the transitions on the letters. At points it will shift from one voice to another reading the letter, mid sentence, and will overlap a number of seconds. This would be fine if they spoke in unison, but there are parts where both actors are speaking and one is 1-2 seconds behind the other and it’s like two people vying for your attention until it cuts one off.

All in all, it was good, but I find other recordings much better for listening to the Word. The Old Testament didn’t have this problem, but the New Testament was very disappointing with frequent interruptions after the gospels.

Helpful tips for Dungeon Masters

As a DM who is often overwhelmed by the amount of prep work associated with bringing a module to to table in a competent manner, I found this book has a lot of helpful information about how to reduce some of the things that eat up a lot of time and don't provide a lot of in-game payoff. Also, the book gets to the point and doesn't waste a lot of time. At under 3 hours, it's not a huge time investment to get the knowledge it offers.

-1 star as it refers to a pdf a number of times that is supposed to be supplied with this audiobook that you never receive with Audible. It doesn't hamper things too much, but it really would have been nice to have.
