"No Feign No Gain" is Mission Impossible-Meets-Cozy-Mystery.

Picking up right where the first Sonic Sleuth book left off, we find Quinn back to work at her clinic, hoping to finish her degree and move into a full-time audiologist position. Life has other plans when a severed finger winds up on her desk and then her frienemy-turned-friend of an officemate goes missing.

Together, Quinn and Sloane realize that local mobsters could be behind the kidnapping and jump into finding Quinn's missing coworker to save Quinn's job and reputation. What follows is twist after twist after twist...just when I thought I had everything figured out, the author surprises me with another turn of events!

A fun listen, "No Feign No Gain" will keep you guessing until the very end! With lovable characters and lots of intrigue, this is a great series for readers who like the thrill of a spy novel with a little sweetness and innocence on the side.

"Impulse Spy" was a delightfully fun, fast-paced read, perfect for audiobook listening. Readers meet Quinn, an audiology fellow (a unique role/job in the cozy mystery world) at a bookstore where she runs into a woman who tickles her mystery-loving interest. Before Quinn knows it, clues are being left for her and her love of a good thriller prompts her to follow. When she fears she's stumbled into some sort of spy-ring, Quinn learns her mystery woman is actually a private investigator who wants her help on a case. What unfolds is a mystery that morphs into something more at every turn!

Quinn is a delightful MC - full of spunk and curiosity, I readily believed she would put it all on the line to solve a mystery. Her relationship with Sloan, her newfound PI friend, is wonderful to witness as it develops. They have great chemistry, and I look forward to seeing their relationship grow. I liked that their partnership is the central focus for this book -- the author lays the groundwork for a romance for Quinn, but I thought Sloan and Quinn's relationship really stood out and I'm glad there wasn't another love interest vying for Quinn's attention.

Readers of Jana DeLeon's Miss Fortune mysteries would really like this book series I believe. With Sloan's background as a PI, it's great to just dive into a mystery with all the cool gadgets and contacts a PI has at their disposal. Rebecca Woods's narration is also very well done. Her range in character voices makes this audiobook come alive and I listened to it in just two sittings (I am a double-speed listener, and her narration works flawlessly with that setting).

A wonderful debut! I received a free copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review, and after listening, I would definitely read more from this author. This makes for the perfect light mystery read!

Another great installment! Absolutely love the Hueberts! I’m hoping for a short story featuring them some day. My favorite supporting characters in this series.

For a book that had no likable characters in it, I CHOOSE YOU made for an entertaining listen, if I focused hard enough on it.

I usually listen to audiobooks while doing chores and such, but this book had so much going on with different timelines and different characters that I often found myself getting lost if I wasn’t giving this 110% of my attention.

A twisted story of a family wracked with grief after the attack and death of their teenage daughter, if you’re in the market for a dark read, this is it.

One of the smartest cozy mysteries I’ve read in a long time! Alex London and her connoisseurs eye make for a great team. Whip smart and interesting, this book had me racing from chapter to chapter. Wonderfully narrated, I look forward to more from this series.

Dewberry farm sounds like a wonderful place to live. The narrator does a wonderful job bringing this town to life, although the narration shines an unfortunate light on the extreme overuse of the word “said”.

The narrator did a wonderful job bringing this mystery to life. While there was an abundant use of the word “said,” overall, Crime Wave was a fun, easy listen. The ending did feel a bit rushed and underwhelming, but Maggie and Dorothy have great chemistry, reminiscent of Jana Deleon’s Miss Fortune series. I would listen to the sequel!

I really enjoy listening to this series, as Cassandra Campbell does a masterful job at making these characters come alive. However, Cajun Fried Felony fell a bit flat for me. Usually, I can look past the abundant overuse of the word "said" in these books because the story is riveting and entertaining. This time around, I struggled to connect with the mystery.

When Gertie inadvertently unearths a dead body during a Sinful-style turkey run, I was initially intrigued. Who could be buried underneath a playground and not be missed at all by the townsfolk? Well, the reader is introduced to Venus, and the author really hammers home how awful she was and how this young woman basically deserved to die. Like, bludgeons it into the reader throughout the whole book. There wasn't a chapter where someone didn't say that this young woman got what she deserved. And this is where I had a hard time with the story. After all the shady things Venus did, I feel like saying she deserved to die more than one or two times was a bit of an overkill. I understand that in the end, as the murderer (predictable, yet poorly played out) is revealed, Venus's death is supposed to still be justified, but then the story takes an even darker turn and wraps up in a really dark way that I wouldn't normally expect (or want to see) in these books. There was too much done to make all the death that occured in this book "justified" and it just made the whole thing ring of pandering insincerity.

By far my least favorite of the Sinful adventures, but nonetheless I will listen to the next one when it comes out because I really do love this trio of heroines. I only hope their next mystery is worthy of their talents.

I love Jana DeLeon’s stories and this one was just as fun as the others. I noticed however, every other dialogue tag felt like it was “said.” Listening via Audible, it becomes somewhat annoying to hear it pop up over and over and over. As much as I enjoy the narrator’s stellar performance, this one might have been better read to skip over all the “saids” littering this detective tale.

One of the most satisfying conclusions to a saga I have ever read. Maas and her talents shine in this breathtaking adventure, full of war, hope, destruction, and life. Brilliant series. Cherished every moment listening to this book. Bravo!
