When the British Empire sets its sights on India in the mid-nineteenth century, it expects a quick and easy conquest. India is fractured and divided into kingdoms, each independent and wary of one another, seemingly no match for the might of the English. Historia
Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

emotionally difficult, but amazing story
Revisado: 01-07-23
This book deals with the difficult theme of suicide, it even made me cry a bit. Despite the tough theme, this book is definitely worth listening to. The story is engaging and powerful. The narrator does a perfect job. the main character is very depressed after his wife passed, but through flashbacks we learn about his life and it's pretty amazing. The end of the story is less sad as Ove begins to form attachments to the people still left in his life

good YA stort
Revisado: 12-29-22
love the story. the narrator is a bit off for how a teen should sound. the more I listen to the narrator, the worse it sounds. she works really hard giving the voices depth and character, but the squeaky gravely voice of the main character is so off I stopped listening a few times. for a different book, the narrator would be great, but she just can not do the main character justice.

too chopped up
Revisado: 10-03-22
when I bought this, I did not realize it was an abridged edition. so much is missing from the original book, it was bitterly disappointing. too much essential character development was chopped out. the original story was a favorite of mine. this was just a disappointment.

this is most likely the last of the merry gentry books, and it has a very good ending overall. the narrator does a great job, (except for pronouncing Ivy's name as Eevy). I really enjoyed the story and the narrative
