Loved the descriptions of Yellowstone and the intricate plot. Looking forward to Joe and Mary Beth springing Nate from the Feds!

I stopped after the first story. The second half of its recording was simply a list of vocabulary words their meanings. many similar authors provide a.pdf file with that - I was disappointed that half of 3 hours was going to be a list of words read out loud. Whould actually like my money back.

This is a great one for naval thriller fans, love story fans, political thriller fans and courtroom thriller fans. Helprin also has an extremely lyrical writer's voice. Loved it.

I did end up listening at 1.35x which actually made me love the narrator. At 1.0, I'm not sure I would have lasted. Too slow. But we have an adjustable reading speed for a reason!

I didn't love the Jake story line but I see how it's probably setting up the next book.

Populist Conspiracy Theories 'R Us

The action sequences and technical detail in these Terminal List books are unsurpassed. The silly conspiracy theories really do weigh them down without adding much to the plot. I still don't understand how anybody (even shadowy forces) would have benefitted from keeping Vietnam POW's fate a secret. Not made clear in the book at all. The Kennedy assassination stuff makes it seem even loopier.

I have another issue which applies across many of these conspiracy theory narratives: Why is it "Big Pharma" that is always the villain rather than "Big Medical Insurance" or "Big Hospital Corporation" or "Big Government Health Regulator"? I get it that it's become the common, popular bogey man, but I'm going to thank God Big Pharma exists when I have to go get chemotherapy or treat a persistent infection.

I do have to applaud Jack Carr for the seamless introduction of the sci-fi elements dating from the last book and carrying on here. That's a tough trick to pull off in this genre and I think he's done it well.

A lot of these quibbles fade into the background when listening to Ray Porter. He is a fantastic performer.

Well, I'd listen to RC Bray read the phonebook

I thought this story was terrible. The technical details were off (isn't that key to modern thrillers?), and the plot really made no sense. I'd listen to RC Bray read anything which is the only reason I finished this. I kind of thought Sean Parnell had a good reputation as a thriller writer, but not on the evidence of this one.

I love Hurwitz and Ethan Smoak, but this one has a ratio of introspection to action exactly opposite to what I prefer. Scott Brick rocks as always. Really would love to see some resolution wrt Mia, maybe mediated by Joey. Nonetheless, this one felt a little like a space-filler.

This cracked me up because I'm sure it was meant to disparage the Orange Guy and the GOP, but it ended up, with its Department of Truth, sounding way much more like Biden and his Disinformation Board in DHS or his attempted control over Twitter via the FBI. So, kind of silly and disingenuous, but pretty entertaining for free!

The mystery and various clues were interesting, but, by the end, I had lost all sympathy for all of the characters dead or alive. Seemed to me like there were still a lot of plot holes at the conclusion, but was happy to be done!
