Historia
Two retired Texas Rangers, Captains Woodrow Call and Augustus "Gus" McCrae, lead a cattle drive from the small town of Lonesome Dove to the unsettled Montana territories. On their grueling journey, they are joined by Joshua Deets, a Black scout and former Ranger, Jake Spoon, a fugitive, and Newt Dobbs, a 17-year-old boy who may have family ties to Call. Richly authentic, beautifully written, always dramatic, Lonesome Dove will make listeners laugh and weep, dream and remember.

Good story, Quality issues abound
Revisado: 08-29-23
This is a fantastic story and its well told save for two ongoing issues throughout the story. I'm not sure why the narrator is almost shouting Gus' lines throughout the book. It is, however, overshadowed by the awful recording quality. Credit where credit is due, I firmly believe the narrator recorded this book at his home. That sounds strange, but I hear the phone ringing in chapter 77 and there's other conversations in the background around the same part. The hi-pitch noise and "swirling" other reviewers mentioned is lossy compresion, basically a result of shrinking sound files so they can be shared electronically via email, etc. They dont unpack so well and ends up sounding like this recording in most parts.
All in all, a great story and a definite read. I wish they hadnt settled on the quality though. Especially for a new recording

2/3 info, 1/3 chapter review
Revisado: 10-29-21
some good tips here and I encourage the read but I dont need a 10min recap on a 20min chapter. One encompassing review at the end would have sufficed

Decent intro into Wyoming....
Revisado: 03-31-21
Typical Joe Hutto full dive into a project. I found it an interesting read and humorous at times. There are some very neat stories about nature, animals and ours and Joe's interactions with them. From a conservationists view I really related to the epilogue

So-So story, excellent reading
Revisado: 12-02-20
Superb reading, Rodska always does a great job. The story was just okay to me. I feel like Hornblower was a bit too gullible here for his typical MO. Rodska does such a great job it was still a very enjoyable performance

Great Book
Revisado: 11-16-20
My only gripe with this book is that it could have used a second introduction into the short stories. I was thoroughly confused at first and had no idea what happened. A simple introduction would have been appreciated. Aside from that it was another wonderful tale expertly read by Rodska. I really enjoy his readings of Hornblower.

Great story, fair reading
Revisado: 11-13-20
Another great Hornblower title with plenty of action. I always feel myself pulling for Hornblower and wishing for another list of accolades and accomplishments. The reading however wasnt spectacular. Coster just doesnt quite deliver as well as the previous narrator and at times goes on like a man giving his dying wishes. His dramatic interpretation just dragged on in parts, almost lulling my interest away. This recording also needs to be remastered and volume levels equalized. This is editing 101, no excuse for this.....
