The Halloween Percy Jackson Adventure

I loved learning about Hecrate, a lesser known character on the pantheon but who plays a big part in Homer's work before disappearing. Grover's obsession with strawberry anything leading to problems was an interesting choice, since he grew up around the strawberry fields at camp. I loved the concept of the monsters, including Grover's transformation. The ghost of the architect's interaction with Anna Beth was really fun, too. Overall, it was a fun romp.

Prequel to Trials of Apollo

I was startled after reading in Trials of Apollo about Percy having a half-sister and then dealing with his mom being pregnant in this book. This story had heart like the Magnus Chase series, strange happenings like the Egyptian trilogy, references to previous adventures from both Percy Jackson and Percy Jackson and the Olypians, and explored a possible future for the main three from The Lightning Thief.

Delightful!

This has been a very clever murder mystery about seven girls at a finishing school who see both adults who run the school die and don't want to go home to their unappreciative families so they try covering it up. Their secrecy can't stay secret with all the adult ambition, but the girls are remarkably resourceful and clever on the trail of the murderer while fooling everyone. It's a fun jaunt with each character given a different way of speaking.

Lovely and Clever

Think A Little Princess mixed with the heroine of The Secret Garden finds an unusual genie in a sardine can and adventures she could never imagine. I enjoyed many laughing fits and have heard this story five times now, going on my sixth one. This is one of my favorite stories: clever enough for someone in my thirties to enjoy while my inner child revels in it, too.

A Future Historical Fantasy Classic

This fantastic narrator takes you through a timely first person narrative of a young girl of color who grows up to see the world is not only different than she thought but is also full of doors to other worlds which overlap occasionally with the historical world through myths and legends leading to their doors. Along the way January unlocks a beautiful love story and discovers a magic in written words which have the power to open or create new doors, while thwarting what creatures who would remove doors and their diversity from existence for the sake of "normalcy" and "predictability".

For Gamers, but a fun diversion regardless

If you're a fan of Fortnite or whatever the game is, then you'll get the jargon. As a nongamer, this was still a fun diversion. I like how much the characters grew and developed as people.

Beautiful, Musical, and Magical

Explore colorful varieties of music-magic. Follow the narrator as she learns to listen to the music in her own heart. Leave the end of the final chapter re-evaluating how you treat yourself and all you offer by being present right where you are.

Teamwork, Humor, and Heart

Rescue a vampire from a roof, ghost from a poltergeist, zombie from a hole, and a town from an ancient curse, all while keeping his undead friends safe from the living: Tom has his hands full. Good thing he can look to his friends and face all the challenges as a team or rather as a family. Heartwarming surprises await you, dear listener. Enjoy!
