Historia
With a career, a boyfriend, and a loving family, Piper Kerman barely resembles the reckless young woman who delivered a suitcase of drug money 10 years ago. But that past has caught up with her. Convicted and sentenced to 15 months at the infamous federal correctional facility in Danbury, Connecticut, the well-heeled Smith College alumna is now inmate #11187-424 - one of the millions of women who disappear "down the rabbit hole" of the American penal system.

At first, the quaint, rural ways of their new neighbors seem to be everything they wanted. But there is an unspoken dread that the townsfolk have lived with for generations. Would you try another book from Khaled Hosseini and/or the narrators?
Yes, I would read more from him. I enjoyed both the Kite Runner and 1000 Splended Suns. This one was good, but not quite a match for either of them. I like this author.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I felt I knew how it was going to end up.
Did the narrators do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?
Yes. But, I had to listen very closely due to the accent.

Historia
At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. In the wake of her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was soon destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she made the most impulsive decision of her life: to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - and to do it alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than “an idea, vague and outlandish and full of promise.” But it was a promise of piecing back together a life that had come undone.

Cheryl.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Her mother's death was hard to listen to and I think some of tales of nights.

Historia
Determined to find out what happened to her former deputy chief, Jack Fielding, murdered six months earlier, Kay Scarpetta travels to the Georgia Prison for Women, where an inmate has information not only on Fielding, but also on a string of grisly killings. The murder of an Atlanta family years ago, a young woman on death row, and the inexplicable deaths of homeless people as far away as California seem unrelated. But Scarpetta discovers connections that compel her to conclude that what she thought ended with Fielding's death and an attempt on her own life is only the beginning....

Complicated.
Revisado: 03-18-13
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Well, maybe I have read to many Scarpetta stories. Many parts I liked as I always like the way Cornwell writes but the details of the crime etc are becoming lengthy and technical and they drag on forever that the story gets lost. And, I lost interest as well.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
I figured it out.
Was Red Mist worth the listening time?
I think it became tedious. I wanted more story line and less technical description. But, I always hope Cornwell will thrill me with each book. I think I will give it a rest for awhile.

Read it for a college course
Revisado: 03-18-13
Would you consider the audio edition of The Leadership Challenge, 4th Edition to be better than the print version?
I have both the book and audio. At times I followed along in the book from the audio. I had this for a college class and multiple homework assignments from it. I could read the chapters by audio and study for tests and/or homework with the book. It's excellent information.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No way. Information and concepts are too detailed.
