And enjoyable twist on the fairytale
Revisado: 12-03-24
I enjoyed the different point of view and the change of the story so that the beast was known in both her human and beast form. So her love interest had a chance to get to know her in both forms which felt more real. The characters were very entertaining. I enjoyed this read tremendously. Spent quite a long time that I enjoyed a book as much.

Historia
Featuring a delightful cast of characters and timeless Buddhist wisdom, and with His Holiness' compassion pervading every chapter, The Dalai Lama's Cat is simply enchanting. Not so much fly-on-the-wall as cat-on-the-sill, this is the warmhearted tale of a small kitten rescued from the slums of New Delhi who finds herself in a beautiful sanctuary with sweeping views of the snowcapped Himalayas.

One of my favorite books I would highly recommend
Revisado: 10-08-24
I enjoyed everything about this book. The story was amusing but at the same time was just so calming. I listened to this the first time when recuperating from a surgery and it was just so enjoyable and soothing and just gave me a sense of contentment and peace, which was so lovely. The narrator has such a pleasant voice as well. I definitely recommend this book and have listened to the audio several times because I like the life lessons and the humor and just the serenity I get when listening to it.

It’s OK,
Revisado: 10-08-24
The heroine judged another character as being insincere and deceitful. But in fact she was the one who was in sincere and deceitful. It made it so that I could not enjoy the story because I did not like her treatment of others. I thought it was a change in character from who she was at the beginning of the story. Initially, she seemed to be a very kind and thoughtful and empathetic person who she became, was quite different. It was OK. It was clean.
The way the narrator announced each chapter got a bit grating but the reading of the actual chapters was good.

When novice monk Tenzin Dorje is told by his lama that the Red Army is invading Tibet, his country's darkest moment paradoxically gives him a sense of purpose like no other. He accepts a mission to carry two ancient, secret texts across the Himalayas to safety. Half a century later, in a paradox of similarly troubling circumstances, Matt Lester is called upon to convey his own particular wisdom as a scientist, when Matt's nanotech project is mysteriously moved from London to a research incubator in Los Angeles.

Enjoyed the book
Revisado: 11-10-21
Enjoyed the book! However I would’ve preferred the book better if during the Matt Lester portions there was less or no talk about sex. I wasn’t expecting so much talk about it. It almost made me stop reading book down several times. I ultimately just skipped forward over these parts, to continue with the story. The story of the escape from Tibet was rivetin! I enjoyed this book. It had good messages. However I like the Dalai Lama’s cat, Series much better. But this was worth a read!

My 10 year old and I loved this story! We read or listened to multiple Christmas stories this year that we enjoyed —-such as when Santa fell to the earth. But this book “A boy called Christmas” was by far our favorite. It was truly magical!!!

Historia
The only thing Jean Honeychurch hates more than her boring name (not Jean Marie, or Jeanette, just...Jean) is her all-too-appropriate nickname: Jinx. Misfortune seems to follow her everywhere she goes, which is why she's thrilled to be moving in with her aunt and uncle in New York City. Maybe when she's halfway across the country, Jinx can finally outrun her bad luck. Or at least escape the havoc she's caused back in her small hometown.

Good performance. Ok story. Not for preteens
Revisado: 04-23-17
I have liked many of Meg Cabot'a other stories. This is a fine story, but not a great story. I would recommend one of her other books over this one but it is still OK. I think Avalon high and some of her other books are better. I'm an adult and a mom of a 12 year old. I try to pre-read some of the books before she does. This one I was not as fond of and would not allow her to read and she's only just about to turn 13. There were numerous references to drug use and friends with benefits relationships which I thought were inappropriate for preteens or even when she's a teenager. I would not recommend it for preteens at all in light of this content. The person who read the Audible I thought did a good job and was enjoyable to listen to. But again overall only found the story to be so so.

Story is not as good as its predecessor. Narration detracted from the story as well
Revisado: 01-16-17
The story seems much weaker than book 3 of the series. But I think the narration made me enjoy the book even less than the actual plot line. They did not use the same narrator as with the last two books. The narration in this book grated on my nerves.i've made it about one third of the way through on audible. I'm going to read the rest on my own due to this.

To save her mother's life, Clary must travel to the City of Glass, the ancestral home of the Shadowhunters - never mind that entering the city without permission is against the Law, and breaking the Law could mean death. To make things worse, she learns that Jace does not want her there, and Simon has been thrown in prison by the Shadowhunters, who are deeply suspicious of a vampire who can withstand sunlight.
