Historia
Emma Lathen's fourth John Putnam Thatcher mystery centering on fraud, murder, and forensic accounting. An ironic and insightful mystery with great charm by the "American Agatha Christie" and "Nero Wolfe with Portfolio", according to New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and LA Times reviewers.

Horrible narration
Revisado: 01-28-22
Unfortunately, I couldn’t get through five minutes. The narrator sounds like he’s reading a textbook.

So disappointing
Revisado: 06-25-20
The narrator is monotone and boring and the conclusion of the story is such a disappointment.

Historia
Dazzling and devious Juliette was anything but popular with the upper class set she'd married in to. Her husband, Arthur, bought her off with a ruinously expensive divorce. But a few years later, Juliette turned up again - and days later she was dead. Almost everyone in the exclusive town had a motive for wanting Juliette dead. Now, it's up to skeptical Sheriff Russell Shand to pierce the wall of aristocratic silence, and find the ruthless killer.

Can’t get past the narration
Revisado: 03-09-20
I really enjoy Mary Roberts Rinehart books, unfortunately I made made it to chapter 7 and couldn’t take the breathy, “sing-songy” voice of the main character any longer. I guess I’ll have to read the book to finish it.
