Good narration

There is a lot of potential here not only in the characters but in the series. I enjoyed the narrator that was chosen for this book because it really takes a certain voice to bring a book to life and put the reader (or in this case listener) in the right head space to get into the world of the book. The narrator really did that. She was great with both the male and female voices

Now why is it not getting more stars you all, well a few reasons. The first being that I found it very hard to like Thomas. Even Audrey often times doesn't like Thomas's arrogant, haute airs (though the author tries hard to convince is to like him). I just can't buy what he does to convince her to overcome this fault in order to like him that doesn't involve his looks. There is also the problem of impropriety of the times. If you are going to use it in some situations in the story than you need to stick with it on all. For instance, she worries about being left alone with Thomas in her family's receiving room but the door remains open and her aunt is home, but later on her brother sends her home alone with, as far as he knowsvis a stranger, Thomas. You can't talk about your reputation if every one around doesn't seem to care or know what one is.

It's really little things, but they niggle at me as they they are brought up often throughout the book. Overall, I hope to see Thomas become less annoying and Audrey become stronger

This story does an excellent job of showing how disasters can do one of two things: either being out the best in humanity or the worst. With our nation's youth dependant on electronics to keep themselves entertained and connected, being without out these "necessities" can quickly lead a group cut off from civilization to reach mass chaos.

Wonderful narrations give the various POVs in this journalistic-style fiction piece a real air of realism. It almost makes you want to Google to see if it happened, that is how good the story is and how well the book is brought to life through the narrator's voices. It's not usually my style of genre, but I couldn't stop once I started.

Couldnt even finish book

I couldn't even finish this book. I made it to chapter 4 before I have up. There main character is a real b!tch. She's so full of herself. Not once does she say thank you. She just stays mouthy and bratty. No wonder you human boyfriend threw her overboard to drown. I just want to smack her. I don't think I've ever been so annoyed with a character before. I usual try to finish a book, but couldn't do it this time.

I was really hoping that it was going to include what happened after they returned back to the Moors. it was a good story but felt more like a prequel than a stand-alone story. Is it because the author wants to sale more books by dicing the story up?? I don't know. I just felt like it was half finished

can't stop listening

I love this series. So full of intrigue and magic. I love the full cast of voices that Audible had to bring the different characters to life. It allows for what could possibly be a very confusing story, with its multiple POV, to become engrossing as each voice takes on a POV. It's a story that has so much potential and so many possibilities that as soon as I'm done with one, I'm quickly on to the next book.

Savagely beautiful

I will admit there were times while listening to this book that I thought "Wow, I'm so glad she (Elizabeth) didn't do something cliche right there." It was a nice change of pace for a book to have to profoundly broken people, but yet show them through two different sets of eyes. Their outlook on life was so vastly different - one jaded and hollow, the seeing the beauty in the darkness, amongst the ruin. Together they were more. I loved the message of being more than family, better than the one aspect and how important it is to break the cycle. The performance were very good, especially trying to pull off a Scottish brogue. I thought it was successful. Overall, definitely recommending this listen

British pragmatism be damned

I love this series, but it has gotten to the point where the societal conventions that bind India and Matt are being to become quite bothersome. The feelings these two have for one another is obvious but each denies it. In India's case, it's almost to the point where she leads him on but pushes him away because she is beneath him. I want to hit her. Just tell him why she can't be with him. I hate that she keeps hurting him. It's selfish of her, not giving him a reason when she obviously knows he likes her. I just hope it resolved quickly

It will make you ache

This is not a HEA story. It's a story where even if it seems someone gets everything they want, it still isn't enough. Love isn't enough. This is Everly's story. The story of how she finds love and loses it, only to find love again and have it taken from her. She is never enough, not for her parents or her first love. She is the person who is loved for a little while only to be walked away from. It could give a girl a complex. She is strong and she will find a love just as strong. You will love this book and hate it. It will leave you aching in your heart.

So dirty and twisted

Ms. March sure knows how to write a scene to make you squirm and have flushed cheeks. Add the perfect narrators to that scene and you not want to listen to this book at work.
