Historia
Since he was a small boy, Mosab Hassan Yousef has had an inside view of the deadly terrorist group Hamas. The oldest son of Sheikh Hassan Yousef, a founding member of Hamas and its most popular leader, young Mosab assisted his father for years in his political activities while being groomed to assume his legacy, politics, status...and power. But everything changed when Mosab turned away from terror and violence and embraced instead the teachings of another famous Middle East leader.

I loved the entire story. This man has lived a life that most of us wouldn't survive. But, as with all His children God's hand remained upon him. He is now not just a creation but a child of God. His story reminds me that He will never leave nor forsake anyone who calls upon Him. Praying for you precious brother in Christ!

a wonderfully written story

I didn't dislike anything. Walter Martin is an awesome story teller! Every character has their own story after suffering from the frailties & dysfunction of being human. The portion with Marie really spoke to our hearts about redemption & God's Neverending grace & forgiveness.

Historia
According to Confucius, “an educated woman is a worthless woman,” but Tan Yunxian—born into an elite family, yet haunted by death, separations, and loneliness—is being raised by her grandparents to be of use. Her grandmother is one of only a handful of female doctors in China, and she teaches Yunxian the pillars of Chinese medicine, the Four Examinations—looking, listening, touching, and asking—something a man can never do with a female patient.

initial review interrupted: A wonderful story depicting the lives of early Chinese women. They existed to serve, often in pain & grief, but were graceful & obedient. As in almost every culture time has changed so many things. Lisa See brings her stories to life. Once I start one, it will not be paused until finished!

Historia
At the age of 16, in a nationwide selection for royal consorts, Cixi was chosen as one of the emperor's numerous concubines. When he died in 1861, their five-year-old son succeeded to the throne. Cixi at once launched a palace coup against the regents appointed by her husband and made herself the real ruler of China - behind the throne, literally, with a silk screen separating her from her officials who were all male.

An amazing woman
Revisado: 08-20-24
The religion and philosophies are not anything I subscribe to as a Christian believer. The superstitions & methods are barbaric at times, but when compared to Mao, a true barbarian & Xinping. another modern day spawn of satan, the Empress Dowager appeared to possess wisdom to a degree not seen since in China. The story is well written & excellently narrated. It does cause one to be saddened at the atrocities human beings will commit for power, control & wealth, worse of all being the blind belief & worship of false gods & religions all of which amount to diddly when standing before the Lord of all, Jesus Christ.

This companion tale tells the story of Ruth, the daughter that Rachel Kalama - quarantined for most of her life at an isolated leprosy settlement - was forced to give up at birth. The book follows young Ruth from her arrival at the Kapi'olani Home for Girls in Honolulu to her adoption by a Japanese couple who raise her on a strawberry and grape farm in California, her marriage and unjust internment at Manzanar Relocation Camp during World War II - and then, after the war, to the life-altering day when she receives a letter from a woman who says she is Ruth’s birth mother.

A beautiful story
Revisado: 02-21-24
Written and narrated so beautifully, this is a story to be remembered, Just as in Molokai, the listener becomes one with the characters, all of whom simply bring love. Although I am not of the philosophies, spiritual convictions, customs and traditions which are so much a part of the story, still, it is so touching and shows the beauty of the wonderful character portrayals. Even the love for their precious animal family, the joy & heartbreak coupled with the same for their human family brought many tears......again as in Molokai. I am sad to have both stories end, listening to them has been a very rich experience!

The powerful debut novel from Alan Brennert, Moloka’i tells the story of Rachel Kalama, a seven-year-old Hawaiian girl who contracts leprosy and is quarantined on the island of Moloka’i during the 1890s. Separated from her family and forced to grow up in the leper colony of Kalaupapa, Rachel experiences intense isolation. But she remains strong, finding moments of joy, and even love. amazing characters
Revisado: 02-04-24
This story, the history and tragedy of Hanson's disease, the toll it took on the unfortunate & suffering souls it inflicted and what living isolated & scorned was like for these people has been an amazing learning experience! The story is beautifully written, narrated wonderfully and is so moving, it did bring me to tears more than once. Rachel, Kenji, Henry, Sister Catherine and every other character, all were alive and this listener was among them in their pain, pleasures and most of all, their courage. I loved every minute of this awesome listening experience!

the message
Revisado: 01-26-24
I never mark this awesome book as finished because I just keep listening. Josiah Hope delivers a message of encouragement, wisdom & learning. His prayers are such an encouragement every day, and I never tire of hearing about the true nature of God, the indescribable sacrifice Jesus made to give His creations the priceless opportunity to become His children once again. The gate to Heaven which was locked to us when Adam & Eve gave in to satan is now unlocked for all who believe, confess Jesus & accept His invitation to be our Lord & Savior. thank you, Josiah for this wonderful inspiration.

The Battle of Red Cliffs changed Chinese history. It marked the end of the Han Dynasty, one of the greatest in China’s history, and pushed China into the era of the Three Kingdoms, an era of perpetual warfare and chaos. Furthermore, the battle also had a dramatic effect on Chinese culture, media, and literature, and the battle and its major participants remain legendary in China.

God's faithfulness
Revisado: 01-09-24
The story of Solomon as with so many others in God's Word, reminds me that God is forever faithful to His repentant & believing children. The story is based on biblical truth albeit a little drawn out at times, but I enjoyed it!
