Great characters, awesome dialogue " one team member says, "do some keigels to keep warm, princess." need I say more? Just one of the many times I laughed out loud while listening. Very entertaining!

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Decent writing. poor narration.
Revisado: 01-27-20
The story was good enough to keep me interested but can't say that I found it riveting. There are some gaps, some things we are asked to accept without explanation but some nice plot twists as well. As a Southerner I found the narration irritating and very unnatural. I don't know whom she modeled her speech pattern after but every character had the same pattern of ending each statement by making it sound like a question. Overall I'd say the Where the Crawdads Sing is worth reading but get the book and read it yourself.
Love the title!

Tedious
Revisado: 06-24-18
Several time while reading this I found my self wondering why it was taking so long. It was very slow. Veery veeery slow in fact. Very little of it made any sense. I have no idea what the author was trying to accomplish. I only finished it out pure stubbornness. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. it is terrible.

Revisado: 01-17-18
At first, I hated the the narration. I thought seriously about putting it down and starting another book. It sounded like she narrating inside a cardboard box. I stuck with it and I’m glad I did, the narrator is excellent. She successfully gave each character their own voice and the accents were very good. The story was weird, but I like weird. Some characters popped up then disappeared leaving me wondering what happened with them. The story held my interest and the main character was one you couldn’t help but root for. The ending was like a Monty Python skit. It just stopped. I read this after reading Snow Crash and I can say unequivocally Neal Stephenson has a vivid and wildly interesting imagination.

Reminds me of "Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance"
Revisado: 08-05-17
I couldn't believe that got so many rave reworks either. This was much more well written than "Zen" but ultimately left me feeling cheated the way "Zen" did. Just not much substance. I rarely write reviews but after reading the reviews for this I felt cheated. I managed to get through the whole thing but can't say exactly how it ended. It had become background noise by then.

Winner of the 1961 Hugo Award for Best Novel and widely considered one of the most accomplished, powerful, and enduring classics of modern speculative fiction, Walter M. Human Nature Not Necessarily Science Fiction
Revisado: 04-21-17
Would you consider the audio edition of A Canticle for Leibowitz to be better than the print version?
Possibly. As a Protestant I found this to be an interesting look at a post apocalyptic Catholic church.
What did you like best about this story?
The old Jewish man.
What does Tom Weiner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Pacing. As time was a major "character" his pacing let you feel the constant but slow change.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The face off between the "scientist" and the priest.
Any additional comments?
It made me think.

Bad. Just bad.
Revisado: 05-01-14
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
If someone else narrated it and they were reading words in a different order with lots of the words left out.
What could Benjamin Percy have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Let someone else read it. And change the words around.
Would you be willing to try another one of Benjamin Percy’s performances?
Negative
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Red Moon?
It would be easier to take them all out and figure out which ones to reintroduce
Any additional comments?
John Irving wrote that review? He must have been hitting a bong and laughing his butt off.
No way that's a serious review of THIS book

I feel kinda slimey
Revisado: 03-23-13
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Nothing.
If you’ve listened to books by Erik von Markovik before, how does this one compare?
I haven't.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
He made me think of some old guy trying to sound hip.
What character would you cut from The Pickup Artist?
Huh? I don't know.
Any additional comments?
I learned some things from this book. My brother has always been able to pick up women and I finally figured out that a lot of women are just susceptible to a line of BS. He just starts talking in an animated way and girls light up. Understand, this guy is 50ish, 40lbs overweight, with grey thinning hair, so it's not his looks. This book helped me to figure out what's going on there.
It's kinda funny that you can hear almost all of the author's recommendations being made by Wallowitz on The Big Bang Theory!
