No idea how such a good author could write such a terrible book, of course I only read the first 3 chapters.

Historia
Deep underground, 39 women live imprisoned in a cage. Watched over by guards, the women have no memory of how they got there, no notion of time, and only a vague recollection of their lives before. As the burn of electric light merges day into night and numberless years pass, a young girl—the 40th prisoner—sits alone and outcast in the corner. Soon she will show herself to be the key to the others’ escape and survival in the strange world that awaits them above ground.

Very emotional and unusual
Revisado: 04-11-25
I liked the spunky main character and the mystery and imagination of the storyline. I did not like that the mystery was not solved. The ending could have remained the same, but the Child should have found the answers among the ruins of the world during her explorations. Her efforts all felt very futile, although the realism of the women's daily struggles was entirely convincing. I would love it if the author expanded the novel and answered some of the questions!

Historia
This is the story of Leif Grettison, a crew member of humanity’s first flight to the stars, even though he had not expected to take that trip. The year is 2069. The Troubles, a decade plus of proxy, and direct warfare among the US, Russia, and China, had brought the world to the brink of apocalypse. It was close enough to finally scare the leaders of the powers into signing the Geneva Treaties, a set of agreements pledging peace, cooperation, and the dismantling of the military complexes.

I liked the protagonist and the adventure of exploring a new planet with lots high tech hardware. The hibernation units, the challenges with the flora and fauna on the planet, and the loss of Earth years while traveling in space were all fascinating detsils. Even some of the jokes were funny.

I disliked all the confusing military terminology including weapons, vehicles, and ranks. The slang terms also went over my head. I enjoyed the action and the storyline.

I like the characters including the AI's. This is an engaging read for pleasure without much depth. I found the reason for the fighting and kidnapping rather unconvincing.

Unusual detectives on Jupiter
Revisado: 10-31-24
The plot was minimal, but the setting was fascinating. I enjoyed how the back stories of the demise of Earth and the colonization of Jupiter were slowly delivered like interesting snacks throughout. The dynamic between the two main characters was intriguing also. An entertaining, but not particularly believable read.

Intriging imperfect characters
Revisado: 04-16-24
I liked the way the author gradually feeds the reader clues while giving you time to get to know and care about the wide variety of characters. I did get confused by the many different points of view and had to reread some parts to follow the complex story.

A little too cute
Revisado: 12-10-23
It was a good twisted plot, but constantly hearing about the ins and outs of the sandwich shop became annoying. The narrator's childlike outlook on the world was also rather tedious.

Historia
Nineteen years since the world ended and the fight for survival was constant. People had gathered in Western Oregon from all over the country, each with their own story of survival. Each fighting to make the world better, and perhaps regain some of what has been lost. Brent Tanner, first of the children born after the end of the world, was on patrol in what used to be known as Southern Oregon when someone tried to kill him for no reason. A pretty female type someone.

I found some of the character's decisions questionable and the idea that they walked 2000 miles and only one person got one blister. Also couldn't they find some bicycles or horses?
