Historia
In his final hours in the Oval Office, the outgoing President grants a controversial last-minute pardon to Joel Backman, a notorious Washington power broker who has spent the last six years hidden away in a federal prison. What no one knows is that the President issues the pardon only after receiving enormous pressure from the CIA. It seems Backman, in his power broker heyday, may have obtained secrets that compromise the world’s most sophisticated satellite surveillance system.

great listen!
Revisado: 03-10-24
John Grisham is my favorite. This story was quite different from most of his books I've read or listened too and did not disappoint. Most of the story was set in Italy and it reignited my desire to learn and speak other languages. Great story overall!

Historia
Clanton, Mississippi. 1990. Jake Brigance finds himself embroiled in a deeply divisive trial when the court appoints him attorney for Drew Gamble, a timid sixteen-year-old boy accused of murdering a local deputy. Many in Clanton want a swift trial and the death penalty, but Brigance digs in and discovers that there is more to the story than meets the eye. Jake’s fierce commitment to saving Drew from the gas chamber puts his career, his financial security, and the safety of his family on the line.

Another great Grisham novel
Revisado: 01-24-24
Grisham is truly my favorite author. This one doesn't disappoint. I had read about Jake Brigance (sp?) in another book so he was a familiar likeable character, as was his wife Karla, plus Harry Rex, Porsha, Lucien, and even Judge Noose (sp?). The plot will keep you engaged for all 20 hours, no doubt.

Great modern day romance
Revisado: 01-21-24
The story was interesting and kept moving. There was never a dull "page". Likeable characters and the plot contained some mystery. This was an entertaining read.

Long, circular story, self centered main character
Revisado: 01-17-24
This started out pretty good. It got old though, it was so drawn out. The main character is Sadie. She's self centered, embarrassing, and wishy washy. She breaks down and makes crappy choices when left on her own without the attention of a man after only a few hours...over and over again. With only 2 hours remaining I realized how disgusted I was with her character and the story but forced myself to finish it. The ending was equally ridiculous.
