Historia
June 1933. Independent, young Kitty Underhay has been left in charge of her family’s hotel, The Dolphin, on the tranquil English coast. But when several rooms are broken into and searched, including Kitty’s own, she quickly realizes that something out of the ordinary is afoot at the hotel. Soon, rumors are flying in the cozy town that someone is on the hunt for a stolen ruby. A ruby that Kitty’s mother may well have possessed when she herself went missing during the Great War.

The story didn't seem to draw me in. The performer's voice was very high, I sometimes had to check to see if the speed was accidentally increased.

Almost a great book
Revisado: 10-26-18
I enjoyed the book and thought the characters were interesting. The story was good though a bit predictable I got mostly what I expected. I have to say I was not enthralled with the ending (last chapter). Though there were depressing characters (not a bad thing) I thought the ending was specifically a downer. I get the whole cliff hanger thing but it ended a bit flat. I plan on getting the next book hoping for a comeback.

Great story poorly read
Revisado: 01-04-17
If you could sum up A Terrible Beauty in three words, what would they be?
Fun engaging mystery.
What other book might you compare A Terrible Beauty to and why?
This book follows the style of Tasha's earlier books in a very welcome manner.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Bianca Amato?
Orlagh Cassidy. The performance of Bianca Amato was full of odd gaps and pauses in the wrong location in a sentence or thought. These mistimed gaps caused the meaning to be initially blurred. Very noticeable and increasingly annoying.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, very engaging. Good pace, fun listen. The characters were interesting and well formed. Many openings for future books to continue the Lady E saga.

A bit slow starting but grew into intriguing mystery. I like how her adventure weaved into her personal life. Very interesting multi faceted characters. The narrator's speaking pace was a bit too fast for me at times. I could understand fine just seemed rushed.

Silly to the point of painful
Revisado: 06-10-15
What would have made The Improbable Adventures of Sherlock Holmes better?
Maybe my expectation. I was not expecting Sherlock in such supernatural (and silly) plots. I am a Sherlock fan but found other non Sir Conan Doyle Holmes books entertaining (Laurie King) so I gave this a try. Waste of a credit.
Has The Improbable Adventures of Sherlock Holmes turned you off from other books in this genre?
No.
What didn’t you like about Simon Vance and Anne Flosnik ’s performance?
The commentary between short stories was so bad I had to skip them.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The actual story narration was done well.
