Historia
On February 29, 2000, John Price took out a restraining order against his girlfriend, Katherine Knight. Later that day, he told his coworkers she had stabbed him and that if he were ever to go missing, it was because Knight had killed him. The next day, Price didn’t show up for work. A coworker was sent to check on him. They found a bloody handprint by the front door, and they immediately contacted the police. The local police force was not prepared for the chilling scene they were about to encounter.

Deeply disturbing but worth it!
Revisado: 02-23-19
This story follows the life of one of one of Australia's most despicable people. Katherine Knight was a horrific person whose jealousy took her to levels of rage that are seldom seen or heard about. That led her to a final act that is beyond horrifying. This book is a strange ride and not one that I typically go for but the way it was written and narrated draws you in. I will need to check out other things that Ryan Green has written.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Historia
Irrepressible Terrell Calder is a cigarette-smoking, school-skipping six-year-old boy growing up in a migrant work camp under growing rumors of World War II during the last days of the Great Depression. Son of the camp manager, Terry has no interest in school, and instead is drawn into an unlikely friendship with Mr. McCree, an eccentric old man living in the cracks of civilization. Together, they prowl the Everglades in search of rattlesnakes, epiphytes, and adventure until the law and society change their lives forever.

Beautiful book
Revisado: 11-12-18
This was a little gem of a book. I stumbled upon it by accident but I’m so glad I did. This is a beautifully written story about a friendship between a precocious little boy and a older grandfatherly character. They have lovely adventures in this story set in the 1940s that you cannot imagine happening today. Add to that the excellent narration and it makes this a story I will come back to in the future.

Nice mystery story; good performance
Revisado: 03-11-16
What did you love best about A Certain Slant of Light?
Interesting story that Phillips weaves. I read the first book in this series as well and he has come up with a character that is similar to Travis McGee from the old John D. MacDonald books from the 60s. His "detective" is Zack Taylor and is flawed and occasionally lawless in pursuing the truth but his tenacity leaves nothing left undisturbed.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Peggy. She is a firecracker.
What does Steve White bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
There were several accents in the book that he pulled off well. The way he described the young man that the lobster man dredged up out of the water was well done and I could really visualize that grotesque scene well, more so than if I were just reading. I could almost smell the sea air.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
It's not overly long for an audiobook at a little over 5 hours, but I spread the listen out over several trips.
Any additional comments?
Hopefully more Zack Taylor novels are on the way. Good series that is fun to read and listen to.

Historia
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Great book and an excellent performance
Revisado: 03-11-16
Where does Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Book 1 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
By far, the best. This is a book I have read several times. Listening to Jim Dale's performance of this book brought out nuance that I either I forgot or missed the times that I read.
Which character – as performed by Jim Dale – was your favorite?
There are so many well done characters but I love how he portrayed Hagrid. A lovable character made beautiful by Dale's performance.

Historia
In physics, escape velocity is the minimum speed needed for an object to "break free" from the gravitational attraction of a massive body. The escape velocity from Earth is about 40,270 km/h (25,020 mph). All you need to get started now that you have this book is a pen, some paper, and a willingness to accept the fact that you are the only one who can defeat these invisible, intangible forces holding you down. Only by taking appropriate actions and setting yourself upon the right trajectory can you achieve escape velocity....

Decent book made better with good narration

This is a good book with an action plan to get moving. Tasks, goals, and visions is an interesting way to look at your action plan and I will put this to work in my life immediately. The narration is compelling and I found it encouraging and uplifting throughout.
