Historia
The year was 1922: World War I had just come to a close, the Ottoman Empire was in decline, and Asa Jennings, a YMCA worker from upstate New York, had just arrived in the quiet coastal city of Smyrna to teach sports to boys. Several hundred miles to the east in Turkey's interior, tensions between Greeks and Turks had boiled over into deadly violence. Mustapha Kemal, now known as Ataturk, and his Muslim army soon advanced into Smyrna, a Christian city, where a half a million terrified Greek and Armenian refugees had fled in a desperate attempt to escape his troops.

Important and Well researched story
Revisado: 10-19-24
The author did an incredible and highly professional job writing this text. In this story, you see both the greatest and worst aspects of humanity on display. Torture, rape, murder in extreme proportions. At the same time, mercy, compassion, and devotion to God as a catalyst for great good. An incredible story.

A Must Read
Revisado: 02-22-23
Compelling autobiography of Fredrick Douglass’ life expertly voice acted. I found that it was greatly beneficial to me. It helped me see slavery as more wretched and dehumanizing than I could’ve thought through the eyes of an actual slave. Definitely worth the read

Great as advertised
Revisado: 12-12-22
A fantastic read. I really enjoyed it. The author has a great gift for keeping the reader engaged. The story starts in a classic fashion and then weaves its way into an epic tale. It does borrow themes from LOTR and other works and famous concepts. Overall, great.

Historia
Paul Bäumer is just 19 years old when he and his classmates enlist. They are Germany’s Iron Youth who enter the war with high ideals and leave it disillusioned or dead. As Paul struggles with the realities of the man he has become, and the world to which he must return, he is led like a ghost of his former self into the war’s final hours. All Quiet is one of the greatest war novels of all time, an eloquent expression of the futility, hopelessness and irreparable losses of war.

Very good but tragic
Revisado: 04-18-16
This classic is an excellent and proved a captivating read for me. As an American it was amazing to cross over the trenches and her how a German experienced the Great War. I also enjoyed his reflections of relating to his comrades, his family, civilian life, and the enemy.
