Ms. Brown makes you feel like you are privy to the inner workings of the Palace player’s lives without a smarmy invasion of privacy. She’s respectful of their dignity, but is able to reveal unflinching truths about their motivations, foibles, faults, strengths, missteps, and possible futures. I can’t imagine another human on earth being able to have amassed this much information on generations of royals, with the same engaging ability to share with the rest of us. She goes beyond the known stories, and rumors, and corrects many wrongs, explains how things got to that point, and often offers an explanation that will evoke compassion. These are not the ravings of a dimwit with a mean sense of snark. Underlying her pointed insights, is a respect for the monarchy of her homeland. This isn’t a tell-all that will leave you feeling dirty. Zero cringe.

Don’t

I fail to see the charm of this. A friend insisted it was good. I feel like I wasted my time. I would have preferred a real biography. If the secrets are too hot for them to be attributed the to a real person, then possibly those secrets, and stories don’t belong in the public sphere at all. It feel like it was just for random entertainment and financial gain. I say write, and live YOUR OWN STORIES. Don’t spin tales out of half- truths, and private moments that don’t belong to you.

Pointed and Compelling

Even though this is written through a snarky lens, it seems to be the most balanced, and fair, insight I have seen or read about the royals. Ms. Brown does not shrink from being critical, or from explanation of motives, that we might have a better understanding of each of their particular points of view. I especially enjoyed her narration, and her adept ability to impersonate individual quotes with uncanny similarity. Well done.

Amazing Vulnerability

This is a delightfully honest, and open view into the heart, mind, and life of this man. It’s nice to hear from his POV . I’m personally happy to have him in America, and would give him a completely unreserved high five, hug, or hand shake if I were privileged to meet him in person.

I was disappointed. After slogging through the details of so many characters, I kept waiting for the nitty gritty of the details of the transition to America. I felt like the ending was abrupt, and there were some unnecessary rabbit trails that went nowhere.

Not Just For Motley Fans

I’m a rock fan, not necessarily a Motley Cru aficionado, so my interest was more about the artist in Nikki. I’m an artist, and the mother of 4 sons who happen to be musicians. I saw his book of photographs in a vinyl shop about 5 years ago. I thumbed through it while my husband shopped. It’s intrigued me to this day. I should have bought it. At the time, I wondered what screwed up events happened in his life to make him express himself that way. Now I have a better idea. Something I share with the author is a deep appreciation of things that aren’t necessarily thought of as beautiful, or proper by the mainstream. I love his thought-provoking images and messages, if not his tedious over-analysis of his own psyche. It’s understandable, it’s tolerable, and it’s forgiven, but as he suggests, one must remain honest. I wish him all the best, and am grateful for his art.

I listen to Dan almost daily on his internet, podcasts, YouTube, and radio sites. There’s details here that I have never heard before. This is extremely well researched, and easy to understand. Dan takes a more conversational tone, and is pleasant to hear- even hours on end as he unveils the appalling plots and activities that have brought us to this point. Bravo, Mr. Bongino

I love the fact that Cassandra’s experiences come from a perspective of a reformed slob. I’m not a slob, and I’m fairly organized, yet she was able to give me several fantastic tips. I especially like the lesson about how each of us handle clutter/ organizing in a particular style. She has broken it down into a handful of different styles and personalities. It brings new revelation about what will and won’t work for you and your housemates.

Surprised and Delighted

I was unsure of how to use some extra Audible credits, and bought this on a lark. I consider myself fairly organized and tidy, but I was open to new “tips and tricks”. I braved myself for possible annoyance. I expected to be scolded for having “too much STUFF!”, as I assumed that I was familiar with the Japanese esthetic. I was so wrong. So arrogant. Marie is as soothing and comforting as she is empowering. Her lessons are as much of a life approach, as they are practical, and systematic. I’m especially impressed that she doesn’t promote plastic, and expensive organizing doodads. I’m certain that there are things I’ve learned here that will greatly improve my quality of life, today, and always. I am thankful for Marie Kondo.

Poignant and Loving Memoir

For years I have avoided any “tell-all”books about this most beloved Royal. In my heart, she was nearly flawless, terribly maligned in the press, and she felt like someone that I knew, personally. People with that kind of magical charisma are like that. I didn’t want my image to be tarnished. Listening to Mr. Burrell read his passionate, and very detailed, recounting of his life with The Princess has only improved the magic for me. Even in his brutal recounting of the darker things that happened in and around her life, he remains a gentleman. Her most personal secrets are not revealed, but her spirit and personality are. It’s a privilege to hear this real-life story in his own voice.
