The roar of the present was in the distance when I came to twenty-six bluejays silently contemplating the ruins. Passing in the midst of them I wandered by the skeleton trees and seated myself where I could watch the leering fish. A child worshipped. Glass threw the moon at me. Grass sang a litany at my feet. Classic Story
Revisado: 03-06-25
A classic story by Carl Jacobi, a pulp fiction leader of sci-fi and horror genre of the 1950-1960’s.
However, the narrator was terrible. He spoke in a halting style with pauses mid sentence that were unsettling. Plus, there is an incessant piano playing throughout the reading which made it difficult to hear many of the lines.
Thus, good story marred by a poor narrator and production.

Near Perfect Story
Revisado: 09-05-24
The authors hit all the marks on this one. Great story with non stop action. This is the best Pendergast story in a while. Most loose ends also wrapped up in a satisfying way - will there be a next story? Also kudos to the reader who is darn close to our wonderful Rene in tone and pace. Took a few books but he has the voice in hand now. Don’t miss this one.

Great New Series
Revisado: 01-30-24
If you are a Backyard Starship fan then this new series is for you. Fast paced, lots of action and filled with interesting background info on the Tudor family and several key characters. Betty and Perry are introduced with great satisfaction for fans. I am ready to begin Book 2.

Surprise Winner
Revisado: 02-19-22
I am not a fan of vampire stories or multi voice productions but this is a great story that keeps you wanting more and the production quality is the best I have heard on Audible. The balance of background action is just right and the ending is quite satisfactory. An unusual love story at heart.

Distortion Echo Chamber Production
Revisado: 11-17-21
Sorry, but this is not a good or coherent production. Too much background noise, lots of profanity, some conversations in Spanish, all the actors sound like they are in an echo chamber, and the story doesn’t work. And then it just ends without resolution.

Dresden is Back in Form
Revisado: 10-25-20
After the meh novel Peace Talks released over the summer, Jim Butcher and Harry Dresden are back in full form. Battle Ground delivers it’s title perfectly with non stop action. The forces of good and evil fight it out in Chicago and nothing goes unscathed, including some key characters. A favorite fun character from many books ago reappears to help the good guys and gals and James Marsters reproduces the funky voice right on the mark. An excellent story and production puts the Dresden Files back on top. Dresden fans will relish this new addition to the iconic series.

Historia
Civil war looms in the Bobiverse in this brand-new, epic-length adventure by Audible number one best seller Dennis E. Taylor. More than a hundred years ago, Bender set out for the stars and was never heard from again. There has been no trace of him despite numerous searches by his clone-mates. Now Bob is determined to organize an expedition to learn Bender’s fate - whatever the cost. But nothing is ever simple in the Bobiverse. Bob’s descendants are out to the 24th generation now, and replicative drift has produced individuals who can barely be considered Bobs anymore.

Keeps Getting Better
Revisado: 10-08-20
Surprised and pleased that there is a 4th installment of the Bobiverse. This is an exciting world building account of the Bob’s and their offspring, again expertly read by Ray Porter. The story is compelling and keeps moving with a few side items along the way. The story comes to a nice conclusion and with the hint that more Bobiverse stories are on their way. Can’t wait for the next story.

Amazing Story
Revisado: 06-08-20
This is very good book with a strong story and excellent narrator. The story is to the point and there are no slow parts - it keeps the momentum going. Jerry Merritt’s work should be more widely promoted. This is the second book by him that I could not put down and they are very different genres.

Good but Not the Best
Revisado: 04-14-20
The new Joe Pickett novel is a good story with an excellent start. After the opening scene the pace slows and does not build again until the wild finish. A good novel in the series but this is not the best in the series. This is still one of my favorite fictional characters. I was not impressed by the reader. I usually read the actual books in this series so this was my first encounter with this reader. From the beginning I felt that this reader was not the right person. The voice does not have the right tone, different characters are not well differentiated and the kicker is that Nate, a key person in the series, sounds like Batman. I look forward to the next book but I will read the paper version and pass on the audio.
