Etymologically, the word "apocrypha" means "things that are hidden", but why they were hidden is not clear. Some have suggested that the books were "hidden" from common use, because they contained esoteric knowledge too profound to be communicated to any except the initiated...others have suggested that such books were hidden due to their spurious heretical teaching.

Jewish apocrypha

I bought this book because it says it's the Christian apocrypha. it isn't. it's the Jewish apocrypha. I don't know anyone who uses "Christian apocrypha" for anything other than the apocryphal books written after the new testament period. to add insult to injury, I can't return the book because I didn't buy it with a credit, which isn't directly the fault of the book, but I wouldn't have bought it at all if it didn't say "Christian Apocrypha."
Also, the guy reading doesn't seem to know how to pronounce common English words, which made it an underwhelming listen.

as a reconstructionist, I must admit that paganism in any form results in the climax of this story in one way or another. ultimate reality demands a Savior. Choose One who can save. Christ is Lord of all.
