Historia
On April 30, 1980, six heavily armed gunmen burst into the Iranian embassy on Princes Gate, overlooking Hyde Park in London. There they took 26 hostages, including embassy staff, visitors, and three British citizens. A tense six-day siege ensued as millions gathered around screens across the country to witness the longest news flash in British television history, in which police negotiators and psychiatrists sought a bloodless end to the standoff, while the SAS – hitherto an organisation shrouded in secrecy – laid plans for a daring rescue mission: Operation Nimrod.

Execellent Reasearch and writing
Revisado: 10-01-24
The facts read like a page turner story. The Author did not let us down with his current book. All his previous books at just as great.
Both Ben Macintyre’s penmanship and reading are excellent. The pace and integration of every angle and point of view made a good time line of the unfolding events.
I look forward to the next book.

Same old…
Revisado: 01-02-24
I loved the Clifton Chronicles, but now feel that this book is a rehash with nothing new. Even the way the voting scenes played out have already been done before. I would give this book a miss! Same-Same old… but set in a different country what a disappointing book.

Very stages and artificiality read
Revisado: 05-11-21
Sorry I can’t listen to the end. Not my best listen at all. I usually get involved in the story and the research in the true crime genre. This one is so disappointing. Give it a miss.

Historia
In her father’s household Althea Ervine was used to having the running of things - until her father disowned her (again) and Althea fled to her sister’s home in London. For the first time in her life Althea gave herself up to the gaiety of a purely social life, to the theatre and parties and the admiration of young men. The most ardent of these young men was Edward Pendarly, and Althea thought she could like him very much. But the infuriating, fascinating Sir Tracy Calendar hinted that Edward’s intentions were not all they should be. But why did Sir Tracy care, and for that matter, what were Sir Tracy’s intentions?

Speech impaired Narrator
Revisado: 01-03-21
Where can one begin. I might presume that this book is good. I might also presume the story is wonderful too, however I cannot get past listening to a narrator with a speech impediment. A person who cannot say her V ‘s and rather all come out as B ‘ s makes me so mad I cannot hear the story all I hear is bad reading. Please for the “ lob ob “the English language no more books from this narrator!
If I could give - minus stars for narration I would.

Stilted narration
Revisado: 07-07-20
So sorry I could not finish this book. The narration has stop start sentences and does not flow. I concentrated on the stop start pauses of the performance than the story itself. So I will never know how the book ends.

Poor volume on the recording
Revisado: 02-07-20
I loved the book and sorry that this is not the right platform but I have listened to many recordings by the same author and narrator. I am hard of hearing and this books volume was very poor. So I missed a lot.
I wish the whole set in this series was available on Audible escape!
