Historia
Just as Masters and Johnson were pioneers in the study of human sexuality, so Dr. John Gottman has revolutionized the study of marriage. As a professor of psychology at the University of Washington and the founder and director of the Seattle Marital and Family Institute, he has studied the habits of married couples in unprecedented detail over the course of many years. His findings, and his heavily attended workshops, have already turned around thousands of faltering marriages.

Hmm...
Revisado: 10-06-23
As helpful and needed this book is in our day, I can't bring myself to actually listen to it for very long. I've only gotten to chapter 4 listening for short spurts. I LOVE studying Marriage and Family therapy but I think hearing him say out loud his predictors of divorce, that are things we have struggled with for the past 8 years, is depressing. Now that I'm past that part though, I might try to continue listening, or read my physical copy.
It would be great to read this book when you're engaged or newly married and don't have all the built up emotions and ideas, and can start from the beginning.

Laugh and Cry!
Revisado: 10-04-23
I believe I discovered Kristina's videos on Facebook and somehow found out she had an audio book. It must have struck me at some point because I used one of my credits and I'm so glad I did, even though I can't remember! She had me bawling as well as laughing, sometimes in the same paragraph! She is real about motherhood and so relatable, and reassures me I'm not alone. She has great life pointers that I'm finding connections with my Love and Logic parent class (through my school district), Jody Moore and Maleah Day Warner (all of whom I also love), but she is also unique and helps provide her own perspective. She does jump around quite a bit with experiences to go with each life lesson she learned so I struggled a bit with the timeline. I decided it didn't matter as much if I got all the event in order. Plus I understand because I'm ADHD, distractable, and talkative.
just as a note, in case you're listening with your kids around, I would rate PG for most of it, there are some sensitive subjects and language.
I will listen to again and again!

Our unconscious thought patterns determine our relationships, our spiritual life, and our connection to God to a much greater extent than we know. That’s an alarming thought, because the subconscious mind is a mysterious realm that is really difficult to access and influence...right? No. It’s really not! And it’s the most urgent and impactful thing we can do. This book will show you how.

I think these concepts can help everyonein some way! I will be listening to this again and again. I'm also listening to her podcast and I'm so grateful to have found this and trying to implement it. I love the work she is doing and how she shares in a way that is relatable. If I'm honest I sometimes even hear her voice in my head now saying something like "let's just tweak that thought a little bit."

Magic, suspense, and love
Revisado: 09-15-22
I am such a hopeless fanatic for a good love story! This series had me on the edge of my seat and I finished it in about two weeks. It made me laugh as well as bawl my eyes out while my husband held me and told me to keep listening. He had to spoil it for me a little in order for me not to completely lose it. I love the different accents/voices the narrator uses. It is hard to keep track of all the different characters, and a few small holes at the end but other than that it's absolutely wonderful, and clean aside from a bit of gore.

On edge but also repetitive
Revisado: 09-05-22
I really enjoy this series and have found myself listening for hours, but in this one I started to notice a lot of repetitive phrases. At times it seemed contradictory and unclear, as well as a bit drawn out. I still liked it enough to get the next book. I think the narrator does a good job.

More like Anger Information
Revisado: 08-12-22
It's been awhile since I actually listened but what I remember is that it was mostly information about anger. This book doesn't really give me any strategies, just reasons why you shouldn't get angry. And if there's one thing I've learned is that you can't shame parents into change, or anyone really. I felt like it was mostly a waste of my time, now years after listening I'm getting to the root of my issues with the help of those who understand how to help someone with their mind.

Love it!
Revisado: 06-03-22
By Chelsey Ashcraft
This book made me laugh, cry, ponder, and everything in between! I relate so much to Maleah as a mother and the feelings that she had in this journey. I was amazed at the amount of things she takes on when her children were young, not as a comparison to myself as much as realizing all we really do was mom's, whether we are working, stay-at-home, or somewhere in between. Even if some days all we do is make sure everyone is fed and don't kill each other, it's an accomplishment.
I felt like it did get a bit confusing when she started jumping around on the timeline of how things happened, in order to relate what was going through her mind and certain memories. it did help that she listed the day and time to mark jumping back to the present part of the story. I also felt like during certain parts she sounded a bit bored to be reading her own story, but it was very minor. As the reader and author, she does a good job of conveying the feelings she dealt with and relating to anyone struggling with mental health and other health problems. Highly recommend, I know I'll be listening again!
