Not connected to the characters
Revisado: 01-18-24
Not sure how this garnered such good reviews. Almost all of the characters are one dimensional and the story line doesn't include much on the discovery and reason for the war with the aliens. I even checked to make sure that I had not missed a book in the series. Narrator did a good job, though. Would listen to another book narrated by her.

Historia
Jin Rou wanted to be a cultivator. A man powerful enough to defy the heavens. A master of martial arts. A lord of spiritual power. Unfortunately for him, he died, and now I’m stuck in his body. Arrogant Masters? Heavenly Tribulations? All that violence and bloodshed? Yeah, no thanks. I’m getting out of here. Farm life sounds pretty great. Tilling a field by hand is fun when you’ve got the strength of ten men—though maybe I shouldn’t have fed those Spirit Herbs to my pet rooster.

What was the point of the story?
Revisado: 07-06-23
I did not finish this book. Made it to the 90 minute mark and have no idea what the point of the story is. Profanity at weird places that didn't do anything. Slow and dull. One dimensional characters. I honestly think the review process from Audible is used to generate false reviews. Needs to be addressed. Narrator was good, which is the only positive thing.

Historia
It's been centuries since the robots of Panga gained self-awareness and laid down their tools; centuries since they wandered, en masse, into the wilderness, never to be seen again; centuries since they faded into myth and urban legend. One day, the life of a tea monk is upended by the arrival of a robot, there to honor the old promise of checking in. The robot cannot go back until the question of "what do people need?" is answered. But the answer to that question depends on who you ask, and how.

Slow and full of holes
Revisado: 05-22-23
Giving up after the first book. The story was slow developing and so much just didn't make any sense. For instance, why didn't the 4 NASA astronauts join up with the others on the planet in the interest of future survival? Why doesn't anyone try to find out about Earth. And so on.

Historia
When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world.

Not sure of the audience for this one
Revisado: 03-31-22
I typically like John Scalzi's work, but this one misses the mark in spite of a promising premise. I wondered if it was supposed to be aimed more at the YA market, but the dropping of f-bombs in every scene makes me think maybe not. Both the writing and the over-the-top narration reminds me of being in a bar with the 'bros' trying to outdo one another both in reaction and language over loud music and crowd noise. Hard for me to believe that scientists, even young scientists, would not be more articulate when describing their work or just in every day conversation. And the narrator, well, let's just say that almost every sentence is uttered with the same excited, over the top, dictation. The story really never took off and I did not find much of it plausible, even for science fiction, which is one of my favorite genres. I really tried to give it a chance and listened to almost all of it before giving up. Maybe with a different style of narration it might have been more palatable.

Not worth the time
Revisado: 12-13-20
Mostly characters talking. Very little description of astronauts environment. Characters do not act professionally and during an emergency, there appeared to be no protocol for handling it. Finally gave up after a few episodes. I cannot understand all of the good reviews. Maybe my tastes are too different.
